How to cancel Aer Lingus flights - your options

There are a few different ways you can cancel or change your Aer Lingus flight bookings.

Online

If you made your original booking on aerlingus.com, you can amend it using the Manage Trip facility¹.

You can also cancel a booking by completing a Refund Request form², which will cancel the selected flight at the same time as requesting a refund (if eligible).

Phone

If you prefer, you can also call Aer Lingus customer services to cancel or amend your booking, or if you need help. Here are the numbers to call³:

  • From the UK: 0333 004 5000
  • From Ireland: (01) 761 7834

You can find global customer support numbers here.

Can you cancel an Aer Lingus flight within 24 hours?²

If your flight is to or from the US, you can cancel it within 24 hours of booking and get a full refund. However, this is only for bookings made at least 7 days in advance of departure.

For other flights, you can cancel your booking up to two hours before the scheduled departure time.

If you accidentally make a duplicate booking, you can get a refund if you notify Aer Lingus using a Refund Request Form within 24 hours.

Can I get a refund if I cancel an Aer Lingus flight?

Aer Lingus does offer refunds, but only in certain circumstances. Here’s what you need to know²:

  • If you’ve booked a Saver or Plus fare, you won’t be able to get a refund
  • If you’ve booked an Advantage or AerSpace fare, you can get a full refund if you cancel up to two hours before your flight is due to depart
  • You can submit a Refund Request Form if you need to cancel due to the death of a passenger or immediate family member.

Need to cancel Aer Lingus flights due to Covid-19?

If Covid-19 has disrupted your plans, don’t worry. Aer Lingus has brought in a new policy in response to the pandemic disruption, which effectively does away with change fees up to 30th September 2022⁴.

This means that if you can’t travel due to testing positive for Covid-19 or new entry requirements brought in by your destination country, you can amend your flights for free. You’ll only need to pay the difference in fare, if any.

Aer Lingus cancelled flights - rights and compensation

If Aer Lingus cancels your flight, you can change your booking, request a full refund or apply for a voucher on the airline’s website⁵.

You may also have the right to receive Aer Lingus flight cancellation compensation in certain circumstances. For example, if the replacement flight you’re offered delays your journey by 2 hours or more, and you’re given less than 2 weeks’ notice⁶.
