Send Chinese yuan instantly to Weixin users (card & wallets)

Wise

Our current link up with Weixin (微信) now gives Wise customers a way to send and receive Chinese yuan instantly with Weixin wallet. While there is still a need for your recipient to assign a bank card to their Weixin account, they can now choose to receive Chinese Yuan to their Weixin wallet instead. And as always, your money will be sent with the real exchange rate — like the one you see on Google.

Note: Weixin is the equivalent of WeChat, for mainland Chinese users.

How do I send CNY to Weixin users?

  1. Log in to Wise and set up a transfer to CNY.
  2. Select Weixin, then tell us who you’re sending money to by entering your recipient’s name and Weixin ID (email or phone number registered with Weixin).
  3. Tell us why you are sending the money and confirm your details.
  4. Pay for your transfer.
  5. Tell your recipient to look out for SMS text message from Weixin that contains a unique URL to receive the transfer.
Note: you can only send to Chinese citizens registered with a Chinese Mainland Resident Identity Card on Weixin.

How can my recipient send me their receipt card?
If you are adding a new Weixin recipient, your recipient may retrieve their info from Weixin App to be shared with you.

  1. On the App, search for “微汇款” (Micro Remittance)

  2. Select “全球收款” (Global Transfer).

  3. Your recipient may then create a Receipt Card that can be shared with you.

How does my recipient receive the transfer?

After clicking on the URL, this will open up the Weixin app.

  1. On the app, complete real name and phone number authentication.

  2. Bind the bank card to the wallet and select the receiving method. Take note that card binding is a mandatory process (first time recipient).
