Is your business expanding internationally? If you need to send and receive global payments, you might be considering using a solution like Payoneer.

Payoneer is a financial services company based in the US, which offers multi-currency accounts, money transfer services and other payment services for businesses worldwide.

But does it work absolutely everywhere? In this guide, we’ll take a look at whether you can use Payoneer in Australia. This will be useful to know if your company is looking to trade with Australia, or perhaps even open a branch of the business Down Under in the future.

Remember though that Payoneer isn’t the only option for global businesses. Wise Business is a fantastic alternative, offering a full-feature account, cards, invoicing, bulk payments and secure transfer services to Australia and worldwide.

Can you use Payoneer in Australia?

Yes, you can use Payoneer to send money to Australia, even if your business is registered in the UK. Clients and customers there can also send you money to your UK-based Payoneer account.

You can even open an account balance in Australian dollars, and get local account details (BSB code and account number) so that you can get paid in AUD.¹

If you have a Payoneer business card, you can also use it for spending in Australia - it should work anywhere that Mastercard is accepted.² This could be handy for covering expenses or perhaps even buying supplies if you’re visiting Australia on a business trip.

The only snag is that Payoneer cards only support certain currencies - USD, EUR, GBP and CAD. This means you can’t pay directly in AUD, even if you have an AUD currency balance. It’s likely that a currency conversion will be involved.²

Is the Australian dollar supported by Payoneer?

Payoneer supports Australian dollars (AUD) for sending, receiving and holding a balance in your Payoneer account.

The only thing it doesn’t support is card payments in AUD. You can use your Payoneer card in Australia, but only to spend in a supported currency - USD, EUR, GBP or CAD.² This means a currency conversion will be required, and there may be a fee to pay.
