Anna Allgaier

Looks like you’ve stumbled on another one of my well-researched, thought-provoking articles. I suspect you’re here because you read my previous piece, “How your favourite fictional students use Wise,” and need to know more.

I have access to celeb insights, and you want what I’ve got. You’re curious. Makes sense.

Well, guess what? I’m going to give you what you want.

So sit back, relax, and soak up everything you ever wanted to know about how the scariest kids on the block use Wise.

PS I heard curiosity killed the cat. Just saying. 🐈‍⬛🪦

Frightened by hidden fees? Same

1) Freddy Krueger, A Nightmare on Elm Street

Not to be confused with the Christmas classic Miracle on 34th Street, Freddy Krueger,
or, Frederick Charles Krueger to mere acquaintances, may be a serial killer but he’s also a serial spender. Shame on you Frederick.

He may look like a one-outfit man, but don’t be fooled. All the messy business he gets up to means he’s become a shopaholic, spending thousands on replacing his signature look. And I’m not sure if you’re aware, but his fedora is hand-woven in Ecuador, so it’s no light expenditure.

How he gets Wise

The Fredster takes full advantage of Wise’s multi-currency account. Having access to over 40 currencies across over 150+ countries means he gets a package delivered on the daily. He should be taking full advantage of Wise Jars so he can start saving. What a silly boy.

2) Dr. Hannibal Lecter, The Silence of the Lambs

Dr. Hannibal Lecter likes his authors like he likes his victims, dead and consumed before bed. Which is why he’s turned book collecting into an artform. His collection costs a killing, but he doesn’t spend on much else to be honest, so it’s sustainable.

How he gets Wise

Hannibal’s hobby isn’t an easy one to keep up from the confines of Baltimore State Hospital, so he’s made friends with our send money feature. That way, he can transfer money all over the world, with no hidden fees, no markups and no need to sneak out of his cell. If there’s one thing he hates more than people, it’s paying too much for a transfer. You can see why he digs our fees and pricing here.

3) Jack Torrance, The Shining

Jack’s writer’s block put his family in a sticky financial situation. So to kill two birds with one stone, he took on a position as caretaker of the Overlook Hotel. Like a lot of writers, myself included, he loves to procrastinate before putting pen to paper. It’s all part of the process. But his procrastination trickles into his relationship with money. He often forgets to pay his bills, reimburse friends and instead, spends hours scrolling through Buzzfeed. Same.

How he gets Wise

He doesn’t. Jack turned all of his notifications off on his Wise app so he doesn’t know how much he’s spending. He also never checks his account so misses out on features that could help him, like Jars and information on how much he could save using Wise.

Samara Morgan, The Ring

Other-wordly? Sure. But she’s a world traveller too. Samara’s an expat from Japan, and her zest for the afterlife brought her to Seattle, USA. Nothing, and nobody gets in the way of her love of adventure. That’s why she’s strategic with her money, and makes sure there’s always something set aside for a spontaneous trip.

How she gets Wise

Samara’s a finance queen. To fuel her flights, she opened up her very own business using her real surname, Osorio. Osorio specialises in hand crafted, bespoke jewellery, and are best known for their beautiful ring collection. Samara knew the only way to go was to set up a Wise Business account. It meant her business could go international, she could set up account details in multiple currencies, and use integrated accounting software. You go girl.

Candyman, Candyman

I’m not going to sugarcoat this, the Candyman’s really, really, vain. He's vain, loves the sound of his name and can’t get enough of the mirror. Plastic surgery, designer clothes, the highest quality cologne. You name it, he’s done it, he’s got it, he’s bought it.

How he gets Wise

Plastic surgery and designer clothes cost a pretty penny. So Candyman uses Wise’s ‘large amount transfers’ feature. Knowing his money will be safe, speedy and sent with the mid-market exchange rate is really important to him.

Count Dracula, Dracula

Yes, he may be rich, but it’s not easy being Dracula. A castle of that size requires a lot of upkeep so he works late into the night keeping everything in order. He’s clearly an entrepreneur and likes to sink his teeth into new ventures. But new ventures need lawyers, and nothing but the best will do. So his money goes into all things property. Oh, and dental. You have to look fly when you take to the sky.

How he gets Wise

He comes from old money, so doesn’t worry about running low on the dollar. That being said. he’s hypnotised one of the locals to set up his Wise account so they can handle the numbers while he slumbers.

Doesn’t matter.

Jigsaw, Saw

Once a civil engineer, Jigsaw, formerly John Kramer, lost everything and developed a severe addiction to gaming. And what does every successful gamer need? All of the gear. The headset, the chair complete with cup holders, the screen so big it’s basically a TV. Old jiggy does make up for it though. By enteringing professional gaming competitions around the world he ends up taking home more than he put in. Good for you.

How he gets Wise

Booking trips and receiving prize money at low rates, of course.

Annabelle, The Conjuring

She may have been born in 1943, but there’s nothing raggedy about this Annabelle. A gorgeous girl like her deserves the spotlight, and the Occult Museum in Monroe, Connecticut gave it to her. Ann ’s a model, and stays perched inside a glass box for all visitors to admire. Because her looks add numbers to the books, her skincare is an imperative investment. She may make it look effortless, but reaching porcelain standards takes time and money.

How she gets Wise

Not just a pretty face, Annabelle takes a huge cut out of the Occult Museum’s ticket sales. She’s the main attraction, after all. She’s got both a business and a personal account, so she can hold her income in her personal account and use the business one for jobs she gets overseas. You can’t keep a good girl down.
