What cards are accepted - and which are not accepted by Revolut?

You can use your card reader to accept payments for your approved business, which fall under the Revolut acceptable use policy. Payments can be Chip and PIN or contactless, including:

  • Visa
  • Mastercard
  • Maestro
  • Apple Pay
  • Google Pay
  • Samsung Pay

Cards issued on other networks - like American Express or Discover - can not be used with the Revolut Reader.

How to accept payments with Revolut card reader?

  1. Order your Revolut Reader: Log into your Revolut Business account and go to Settings, then Devices. Follow the prompts to order a reader, pay, and confirm the shipping address
  2. Make sure your reader is charged: Once you have your physical device you’ll need to make sure it’s charged before you pair it and start to use it
  3. Log into Revolut Business and create a request to pair your device: Go to Merchant, then New Request and Card Reader
  4. Connect your reader to your phone: Tap Connect a card reader, then follow the prompts to give permission and enter the last 3 digits on the specific device you’ve been sent - accept the pairing on your phone
  5. Start to take payments: Enter the amount to pay, the item you’re selling, and tap Charge
  6. Your customer can pay: All your customer needs to do it tap and pay, or make a chip and PIN payment on the Revolut Reader
  7. Get your money: Funds are deposited into your Revolut account next day

How to activate Revolut card reader?

As part of setting up your Revolut Reader you’ll activate it. This is done by logging into your Revolut app and following the prompts to pair the device to your phone wirelessly. To make sure you’re pairing the correct device you’ll be asked to enter the last 3 digits shown on the reader, give permission to pair, and then enter a code into your phone and the reader device. This is for security, and makes sure your correct Revolut Account is connected to the reader before any payment is taken.
