If you’d prefer, you can also just go straight to the Virgin Money account closure request form here.
There are other ways you can close an account with Virgin Money. You can do it over the phone, in a branch or by post. Here are the details you need to know for each method.
Call Virgin Money customer services on 0800 121 7365 to discuss the closure of your account. This number is available Monday to Saturday, from 7am to 9pm.¹
Prefer to close your account in person? You can simply pop into a Virgin Money branch, and there’s no need to book an appointment (although you may have to wait if it’s busy). Find your nearest Virgin Money store here.
You can write to Virgin Money at its registered postal address: 30 St Vincent Place, Glasgow, G1 2HL.
However, it’s not the recommended method for closing an account. It’s likely to take a long time for your letter to reach the right person and be acted upon. So, you could be best using one of the other methods above.
Virgin Money doesn’t say how long it takes to close an account, but the speediest is likely to be completing the online form. You can do this in just a few minutes, and submit instantly. The bank will let you know in its confirmation email how long you can expect the process to take.
Ready for a new account? You can open a Wise account online in just a few clicks, and you can start managing your money in multiple currencies (including in British pounds). You can send payments worldwide for low fees and mid-market exchange rates, and receive it for free in some of the major currencies. Your money is always safeguarded and you’ll also get dedicated support when sending large amount transfers.
There’s even a Wise card for spending abroad (and in the UK), where your pounds are automatically converted to the local currency at a fair rate. There are no foreign transaction fees, just a tiny conversion fee - or it’s free if you already have the foreign currency in your Wise account.
Please see the Terms of Use for your region or visit Wise fees & pricing for the most up-to-date information on pricing and fees.
And that’s everything you need to know about Virgin Money and how to close a savings account or current account with the bank.
The easiest way is online, by filling in a short online form. But it’s good to know there are other methods available, if you prefer to speak to someone to start the process.
