Is Paysend safe? 2025 full guide
Wondering if Paysend is safe? Here’s everything you need to know about Paysend’s safety features.
If you have an account with Ally®¹ and need to send a payment to someone else, you’ll want to know what your transfer options are, and the Ally bank limit which will apply to your transaction.
This guide covers the basics you need to know, including the Ally transfer limit and where you can send money to.
Ally has a few important limits to know about when it comes to sending money. You can make domestic transfers from an Ally savings, money market, spending or CMG account². However, you can not make any international transfers out of an Ally account.
International transfers with Ally used to be available but were pulled in 2013, and have not been reinstated³. That means you’ll need to use an alternative third party service to send money overseas from Ally - we’ll look at one option, Wise, a little later.
For domestic transfers, Ally usually has no upper limit. However, for security, the standard approach is to limit the value of transfers from an Ally account to 25,000 USD within the first 90 days you have an account open.
If you need an exception to this, you can request one - for example, if you know you have a higher value bill coming in and want to pay from Ally.
Ally does not allow international transfers from its accounts. Instead, to send your money overseas, you could consider using an alternative which allows high value secure transfers with just a phone or laptop - like Wise.
We’ll look at Wise in more detail in a moment - you can also take a look at Wise transfer limits here.
Ally transfer limits are usually set only for the first 90 days your account is open. If you’ve been an Ally customer for longer than 90 days there should be no limit to the value of payment you can send.
If you have any questions about your Ally account, or the transfer options available to you, you can also log in to chat or send a secure message, or call 24/7 on 1-877-247-2559. Get all the Ally contact options online⁴ to pick the right one for you.
If your account has been limited because you’re a new customer, don’t worry. The Ally limit of 25,000 USD in transfers for the first 90 days is there to protect customer security, but it’s not meant to stop you from using your account freely.
If you need to increase the Ally transfer limit for your account you can still do so by contacting Ally with a secure message, in chat or with a call - a team member will be happy to help.
As we’ve seen, you can send as much as you like domestically with Ally as soon as your account has been open for 90 days or more. However, there’s no way to send a payment with Ally overseas - which will mean you need an alternative.
Banks are certainly one option for sending money internationally, as are services like PayPal. But the problem with banks is they can often be slow, expensive and inconvenient. Luckily, there’s a better alternative out there.
You can send money worldwide with Wise for low fees and the mid-market exchange rate. It’s easy and quick to set up a payment online, and you’re guaranteed secure transfers even when sending large sums.
