July 2020 price update

On 27 July we’re making a few changes to how we calculate your fees. Check out what this means for you.
There's a small fee to convert currencies — either within your account, or when you pay with your Wise debit card in a currency you're not holding in your account.

When do price changes apply to me?

We’ll always let you know if and when we change the price of our fees. We take a different approach to notifying you if it’s a price increase or decrease.

Price decreases

When we decrease prices, we make the price change immediately available for all Wise customers. We’ll do this before notifying you, so that you can start benefiting from the savings as soon as possible.

Price increases for sending money

For transfers funded only by your external bank account — we’ll notify you 7 days before a price increase, depending on which currencies you’ve sent in the past 6 months.

Price increases for using your balances or Wise card

For any activities involving your balances or Wise card — we’ll notify you before a price increase depending on where you live. Check below for your notification period.

If your address is located in:Your notification period is:

What are the notification periods for price increases?

It’s the time between us notifying you, and implementing the price increase. The clock starts from the date we notify you.

Why prices change

We’re on a mission to make Wise as cheap as possible. So we only ever charge what it costs to send your money, plus a small margin that we reinvest into growing Wise. Sometimes, when our costs go up, our prices go up too — and we work to bring them back down. But in the long run, we’re consistently lowering prices over time.

What your fees pay for

Normal companies aren’t always 100% honest about their fees and profits. We believe in radical transparency. Across our business globally, this is what your fees pay for.

Our costs
  • 10% Offices and other overheads
  • 14% Operations and customer support teams
  • 18% Building and improving Wise
  • 19% Margin and growing Wise
  • 39% Banking partners and money-moving costs

Our three principles

1

Be radically transparent.

Normal companies aren't always 100% honest about their fees and profits. We believe in having nothing to hide.

2

Charge as little as possible.

Normal companies charge as much as they can get away with. We believe in upside-down pricing.

3

Make it simple, make it instant.

Normal companies make you pay more for 'premium' stuff. We believe the best-possible should be standard.
