The clubs here play mainstream house and electronic classics, yet the dress code (and price tags) are far from the norm. Clubbers are expected to dress up in some districts and bouncers are strict - stay away from trainers (and tequila shots) until you are safely inside. Clubs in Stockholm’s most popular clubbing district, Stureplan, don’t close until around 5am at the weekends. If clubbing isn’t your scene, check out SoFo, located on the south side of the Soldermalm district. SoFo, short for South of Folkungagatan, is fast earning a reputation for being the coolest new neighbourhood in Stockholm. Peppered with bars and restaurants, SoFo gives the savvy student a more laid back, casual alternative to the dressy late nights in Stureplan. The entire Soldermalm district offers a variety of live music and the bars have a more creative feel than in other areas of the city. Be sure to head down on the last Thursday of any given month for late night shopping, live music and cheap(ish) drinks. Nature Stockholm sits on 14 separate islands, and offers everything from parkland, to forests, to lake shore beaches. On a summer's day Stockholm’s residents can take a dip in Lake Malaren’s waters. In the winter the lakes turn into improvised ice skating rinks and there are even a few mini slopes for the skiing enthusiasts. History Gamla Stan, the city’s Old Town, is a living, breathing relic. It’s one of the best preserved medieval cities in the world. Its cobbled, labyrinthian streets conceal mysterious vaults, and contain the city’s Royal Palace, situated by the waterfront. The Riddarholmen Church is another amazing relic. Built in the 13th century, it once housed the so called Grey Brother monks, and later acted as a royal burial ground.
