How does affiliate marketing work?

In a nutshell, affiliate marketing is a type of paid marketing where a publisher (or affiliate partner) promotes products or services from a brand. Partners receive commission for doing so and the brand gets new users.

Becoming an affiliate marketer is a great way to monetize your blog or large social media following. You can also build a website specifically for affiliate campaigns to be able to promote your products to the relevant audience. There are plenty of resources online, for example Authority Hacker, that will help you get the hang of affiliate marketing and to maximize your earnings.

Finance Affiliate Programs

Fintech is a fast growing industry and many financial companies, like Wise, Revolut or PayPal, have affiliate programs that let partners be paid for promoting their services. It’s important to learn about each company’s products, who their target customers are and which countries they operate in. At Wise, our affiliate team continuously works on providing partners with the most up-to-date information about our products and services through affiliate product newsletters and Resources Hub.

When you join a finance affiliate program it is important to understand what user actions you are paid for and how you can maximise your conversions. Having detailed knowledge of the product will help you target the right audience and get them to start using the service you are promoting straight away.

For example, on the Wise affiliate program we pay for each new customer who makes a cross-currency transaction. We have a life-time cookie window, which means that after someone clicks on your affiliate link, no matter how long it takes them to make their first transaction. You will always receive your commission and that initial click will not expire.
