So, let’s get started.

Is Amazon in Finland?

Amazon doesn’t have a dedicated country website for Finland, but this doesn’t mean Finnish customers can’t shop there.

All you’ll need to do is use an Amazon website which ships to Finland, such as Amazon.co.uk (UK) or Amazon.com (USA).

How to order from Amazon in Finland

It’s actually pretty straightforward to order from Amazon in Finland. However, you should bear in mind that you’ll be limited to sellers willing to ship their products to Finland.

There are two methods you can use. The first is to use either the UK or US Amazon sites, while the second is to visit the Amazon International Shopping page.

Whichever route you use, there’s one important thing you need to do before you can start adding products to your basket. This is to set your delivery location to Finland. You’ll find this option in the top-left of the screen, next to the Amazon logo. Once selected, you can choose your country from the drop-down list at the bottom.

Once the right location is selected, you’ll only be shown items that are available for shipping to Finland. This is a real time-saver, as it means you won’t be shown items you can’t have delivered.

Ordering from Finland’s closest Amazon site

Amazon has country-specific websites for lots of different locations all over the world. Currently, this doesn’t include Finland, but there is an Amazon Sweden website. Amazon.se was only recently launched in 2020 to serve the Swedish market.¹

You might be thinking that as Finland and Sweden are neighbours, it makes more sense to order your Amazon items from the Amazon Sweden website.

Unfortunately though, this option isn’t available at the moment. You can’t set your delivery location to Finland, which suggests that items on Amazon.se are only available to Swedish residents.

How to order from Amazon in Sweden in Finland

While you’re free to browse the products on the Amazon.se website, you won’t be able to order them for delivery to Finland.

So, your best option is to use one of the following Amazon sites, making sure to set your location to Finland as outlined above.

Ordering from Amazon.co.uk in Finland

Ready to place an order on Amazon UK? Here’s how to do it on desktop:

  1. Go to Amazon.co.uk
  2. Change your location to Finland on the top left, next to the Amazon logo.
  3. Shop as usual, comparing products and prices before adding goods to your cart. All should say ‘deliver to Finland’ on the right-hand side next to pricing and delivery information.
  4. Check out, entering your Finland address for delivery when prompted.

It works pretty much the same way on the Amazon mobile app. You can select your location on the ‘Deliver to’ dropdown. If your country isn’t in the list, you might need to go through ‘Settings’ first.

Here’s what to do:²

  1. Tap the three bars icon at the bottom of the app
  2. Scroll down until you reach ‘Settings’ - tap to expand the menu
  3. Select ‘Country & Language’ to set your preferences.

An important thing to remember is that when you buy from Amazon.uk, it’s likely that Amazon will need to convert the currency from GBP to your local currency of EUR.

To do the conversion, Amazon will use its own exchange rate, and this is likely to have a margin added on top of the mid-market exchange rate. This makes the purchase more expensive for you. Amazon also charges an exchange rate guarantee fee.³

Effect of Brexit on ordering from Amazon UK

Another thing to be aware of when ordering from Amazon UK for delivery outside the UK is that import fees may apply.

If so, you’ll be shown an estimate of the import fees before purchasing. This is known as an import fees deposit, and it’ll be used to pay any import fees or taxes due on your behalf.⁴

After reading this, you should be all set to start shopping on Amazon in Finland. It’d be great if there was a dedicated Amazon Finland website, but that’s not an option at the moment.

But it’s good to know that you can still access a wide range of products on the Amazon UK website, without needing to look for other Amazon alternatives in Finland. Happy shopping!
