Your Christmas Dinner in numbers
Tis the season to eat a lot of yummy food, so Wise has teamed up with the food-and-culture expert and Chef, Mallika Basu as part of our Christmas Without...
I bet you’re wondering why I’m here helping you get out of your homework. What’s that got to do with Wise? Let me enlighten you ✨
You may or may not be familiar with the Wise mission:
Money without borders - instant, convenient, transparent and eventually free. We’re powering money for people and businesses: to pay, to get paid, to spend, in any currency, wherever you are, whatever you’re doing.
Wise is all about that international life, trying to make hidden fees illegal, giving you the best value for your money, and building the products and features you need to make the world less of a whirlwind and more of a cool, easy breeze.
But now, please draw your attention to the word instant. Wise knows your time’s precious. You’ve got things to do, places to be, people to see. That’s why we make our transfers as speedy as possible. (57% of them are totally instant, the rest typically take 1-2 days unless your recipient's bank takes their sweet time, or something out of our hands pops up. More on how long transfers take here).
That’s also why I’m going to help you get out of your homework assignments.
You’re all obviously globetrotters studying abroad, or taking a class in another language. So, I’ve compiled a list of excuses in different languages for you with the help of my colleagues at Wise.
You can thank me later. Or don’t, because you may get in trouble.
I’m sorry, I couldn’t do my homework, I got frostbite and have temporarily lost use of all my fingers.
No, I didn't do my homework. I believe in a work-life balance and this didn’t subscribe to my value system.
I already handed it in. OMG did you lose my project? It took me a week to do.
I’m so sorry. I went to see Oppenheimer and didn’t realise it was three hours long.
Tá brón orm. Chuaigh me go dtí Oppenheimer agus níor thuig mé go raibh sé 3 uair.
I was really looking forward to this essay but my Wifi router overheated and exploded and I couldn't do any research.
I’m sorry, I couldn’t do my homework, somebody stole my library card.
I just wasn't in the right headspace to do the essay, and I didn't want to insult you by handing something half-baked in.
I actually wasn't in the class last week so have no idea what you’re talking about.
Just be honest?
If your reason for not having done your assignment sounds like “ I didn't do it, because I didn’t want to” then I suggest steering clear of this one.
Lots of payment providers and banks mark up their fees to pocket a penny or two when you make a transfer and even claim their transfers are free or low and hide the fact they aren’t with higher exchange rates. Here’s the amount of money people lost in four continents between August 2017 and March 2023.
