We'll also introduce another option - Wise. Send money to over 160 countries, all at the mid-market rate with no hidden fees.
Yes, you can send an international wire transfer with EverBank.
You can make one-time and recurring transfers, but it's important to understand the fees and the exchange rates involved in the transaction.
You'll have to pay a fee to send an international wire with EverBank. Here’s a look at the EverBank international wire transfer fees:
Transfer type | Fee¹ |
---|---|
Incoming international transfer | 0 USD |
Outgoing international transfer in USD without a currency exchange | 35 USD |
Outgoing international transfer in a foreign currency without a currency exchange | 65 USD |
Outgoing international transfer in a foreign currency with a currency exchange | 30 USD |
In addition to the EverBank international wire transfer fees, you may have to pay additional fees to the intermediary banks involved in the transaction. EverBank doesn’t have control over these fees, so it's hard to predict how much they're going to be.
The bottom line? International wire fees can add up quickly.
To send an international wire transfer, you'll probably have to convert your money from one currency into another. For example, if you're sending USD to someone in Japan, you'll need to convert the funds into JPY.
🚨 EverBank, like most banks, doesn’t offer the mid-market exchange rate - the rate you see on Google or currency converters. Instead, they add a margin on top of this rate. |
---|
This makes your transfer more expensive.
For example, imagine you're sending 2,000 USD from the U.S. to Japan. The mid-market exchange rate is 1 USD = 140 JPY, which converts your 2,000 USD into 280,000 JPY.
But your bank adds a 2% markup, so now your exchange rate is 1 USD = 137.2 JPY. As a result, your 2,000 USD converts to 274,400 JPY.
In other words, you're losing 5,600 JPY. This is why exchange rates are often called "hidden fees."
EverBank doesn't publicly disclose its exchange rates and they may change depending on the market, but you can expect something along the lines of 1-3%.
