You can send an international wire transfer with Stanford Federal Credit Union.
You’ll need to send your wire through Stanford FCU’s online banking portal – and the provider also partners with Wise to offer easy international money transfers.
You can use Wise to send money abroad without hidden fees or hefty exchange rate costs, including 24/7 same-day transfers.²
You’ll pay a few fees for your Stanford FCU wire transfer. Let’s take a closer look.
Fee | Cost |
---|---|
Outgoing international wire transfer | 20 USD per wire – 10 USD for Stanford FCU partners |
Outgoing international transfer with Wise | The provider doesn’t add a fee – Wise charges from 0.33% per transfer* |
Incoming wire transfers | Free³ |
As well as SFCU’s wire transfer fee, you may also need to pay additional fees levied by any correspondent or intermediary banks.
If your receiving bank can only receive US funds, you’ll need to use a US correspondent bank to facilitate the transfer. This provider may add a charge – and these costs can start to rack up.²
You’ll also need to think about exchange rate charges. Providers can set their own rates – and many banks add a markup to the standard mid-market exchange rate to make a profit from your transaction.
At Stanford Federal Credit Union, you’ll need to send your wire in your recipient’s currency, so SFCU will automatically convert the transfer for you.²
This can help you save on intermediary exchange rate charges, as SFCU will exchange your funds, rather than the intermediary or correspondent bank. You’ll see the exchange rate used for your transaction before you come to send it.⁴
