If you have an account with PNC bank, you can send money abroad in two different ways.
PNC international money transfers allow you to send funds to family and friends in 10 Latin American countries.¹ Alternatively, you can use a SWIFT international wire transfer to reach more destinations.
Each service comes with its own features, fees, and requirements, which we'll cover in this guide. We’ll also introduce Wise – your international transfer alternative.
Yes, but PNC handles international transfers a little differently than most banks.
They have two separate services: a specialized Latin American money transfer system and traditional international wire transfers.
With the international money transfer option, you can send funds to 10 countries in Latin America using the PNC mobile app or by visiting a branch. The following countries are eligible:¹

PNC partners with 100+ third-party providers, including BBVA, Bancolombia, Elektra, and Banural, to process these transfers.¹ If you need to send money to these specific Latin American regions, PNC's money transfer service can be a convenient option.
For sending money to other countries, PNC also offers SWIFT international wire transfers. You'll likely need to visit a branch to get specific information about eligible countries and processes.
Every international transfer through PNC comes with a fee, but the exact amount depends on which service you use.
For international money transfers to Latin America, the fees are as follows:
Transfer type | Fee¹ |
---|---|
Branch service | 10 USD |
Digital banking | 5 USD |
Cancellation within 30 minutes | Free |
For traditional international wire transfers, here's the fee breakdown:
Transfer type | Fee² |
---|---|
Incoming international wire | 15 USD |
Outgoing at PNC branch | 50 USD |
Sending online in USD | 40 USD |
Sending online in foreign currency | 5 USD |
Your transfer might pass through other banks or services before reaching its destination, and each one might charge its own fees.
These extra charges can reduce the final amount your recipient gets, so it's a good idea to ask your banker about possible intermediary fees for your specific transfer.

When you send money to another country, your dollars need to be converted into the local currency. Banks use exchange rates to determine how many pesos, euros, or other currencies you'll get for your dollars.
You can see the mid-market exchange rate on Google, but banks typically offer a less favorable rate so they can make a profit from your transaction.
Your money might also pass through other banks before getting to its destination. These intermediary banks can charge additional fees or convert your money at their own rates.
All of this to say, your international transfer can easily turn into an expensive transaction.
Send money to 160+ countries with the mid-market exchange rate and low, transparent fees with Wise. Set up a free Wise account online or in the Wise app on iOS and Android, to transfer money fast in 40+ currencies.
Over 50% of Wise payments arrive instantly* — and all Wise transfers are deposited directly into your recipient's bank account for convenience.

*Transaction speed claimed depends on funds availability, approval by Wise’s proprietary verification system and systems availability of our partners’ banking system, and may not be available for all transactions.

PNC international wire transfer time depends on which service you use.
With PNC's international money transfer service, most transfers arrive within 1 business day (transfers to Colombia may take longer).¹
For SWIFT wire transfers, you can expect the process to take between 1-5 business days. The exact timing depends on the destination country, receiving bank, and transfer amount.
When you set up your transfer, PNC will show you an estimated delivery date before you confirm the transaction. You can also track your international wire transfer.
PNC doesn't publish specific SWIFT transfer limits on its website. Different accounts likely have different limits.

You can't completely avoid fees when sending international transfers, but you can minimize them. PNC offers relatively affordable fees for international money transfers to eligible Latin American countries (5-10 USD), but SWIFT transfers cost 40-50 USD plus an exchange rate markup.¹²
You might want to compare with other international transfer providers like Wise that don’t charge exchange rate markups.
