You can send an international wire transfer using First Horizon Bank.
A wire is an electronic funds transfer between you and your recipient – and it’s a handy way to move large sums of money in the US or overseas.
You can send your First Horizon Bank wire transfer via the provider’s online banking portal. You can also use online banking to manage your payments and track your wire transfers.
You can schedule US dollar wire payments in advance, but you’ll need to send your First Horizon foreign currency wire in real time.¹
Make sure to look into First Horizon’s wire transfer fees before you move money overseas.
For example, you’ll pay 55 USD per outgoing international wire. Your recipient’s bank may also charge them a fee to receive your transfer.
You’ll pay 15 USD to receive an incoming international wire transfer in your First Horizon bank account.² All of these costs can start to add up!
If you send a wire transfer abroad, you’ll pay an exchange rate to convert your US dollars into a foreign currency. Most banks use their own currency conversion rate – and this may include a markup on the standard rate.
Look out for the mid-market exchange rate. This is the fair rate for currency conversion, without added markups, profit margins, or hidden fees.
When you send your First Horizon transfer, you can choose to view your exchange rate – and this will be valid for a certain period of time.¹
The bank doesn’t display its rates online. You’ll need to get in touch with First Horizon to work out how much foreign currency you can get for your US dollars.
If your bank uses an intermediary bank to complete your transfer, you may also end up paying more than expected for currency conversion.
This provider may convert your transfer into the correct currency for your recipient – and this conversion isn’t typically done at the mid-market rate.
