You can send a domestic or international wire transfer with Bank of Hawaii, including online and in-branch options.
A wire transfer is an easy way to move money between banks. However, you’ll pay a small fee to send your transfer. You’ll also need to consider any exchange rate charges for foreign currency payments.¹
Bank of Hawaii’s international wire transfer fee can vary, but it ranges from 45 USD to 75 USD.¹
Incoming international wire transfers typically cost 13 USD.¹
You may also need to pay intermediary or correspondent bank fees. These are charges levied by any banks your wire transfer passes through – and you may not know exactly how much your payment will cost until you come to send it.
Banks can choose their own exchange rates for foreign currency payments – and many providers may add a substantial markup to the standard exchange rate.
Look out for the mid-market rate. This is the fair exchange rate you might see online, without added markups or hidden fees.
Your intermediary or correspondent bank may convert your payment into the correct currency for your recipient. This conversion isn’t typically done at the mid-market rate – so you may end up paying more than expected.
Bank of Hawaii’s foreign exchange rate can fluctuate depending on when you send your transfer. Look into these costs before making your payment.²
