Refugee reception centres

The Polish government states that Ukrainian nationals do not need to submit an application to enter Poland. Upon entry to the country, if you don’t have a place to stay you can go to a reception point. Here you’ll be able to get food, medical care, and more information about temporary accommodation in Poland.

There’s a full list of reception centres available below, by province, in alphabetical order. All information is also available in Ukrainian on the Polish Government Website.

You may also find useful information on the Polish Legal Aid Centre website. And also free legal assistance for Ukrainian citizens in Czas Prawnika website.

Private medical healthcare is also available, and there are multiple doctors who speak both Russian and Ukrainian that can attend to you and prescribe medicine.

Although Poland is now taking everyone who is fleeing Ukraine, there have been cases where non-Ukrainians were denied entry to Poland to prioritise citizens of Ukraine (Medyka).

If you lived in Ukraine but you are not a Ukrainian citizen try to get to a crossing that is attended by both Polish and Ukrainian border guards (combined clearance) such as Dołhobyczów-Uhrynów or Budomierz-Hruszów.

At the time of writing the border is open for all, with or without documents. However, long waits have been reported, and aid agencies on both sides of the border are trying to help people waiting to cross. For the most up to date information regarding border crossing, check out the Polish government website.

Local trains depart from Jagodzin, Medyka, Rawa Ruska and nearby cities — Rzeszów and Hrubieszów you can change at regional interchange stations to pick up onward transport to your destination. Currently, train travel in Poland is free for Ukrainian passport holders. Volunteers and agencies are also arranging car sharing and transport options for those who arrive on foot and need help moving on.

    Transport

Note: the latter is a citizens’ initiative and not coordinated by an institution, be careful with the people you get in contact with.
