In the US, Revolut Junior accounts are marketed towards young people aged 13 to 17¹.
Revolut Junior accounts are linked to personal Revolut accounts for adults. That means that any holder of a Revolut adult account can open and assign one or more Revolut <18 accounts to teens and young adults, as long as they’re the teen’s parent or legal guardian². Different Revolut adult accounts have options to open different numbers of Revolut Junior accounts.
With Revolut Junior, both the adult and the Junior account holder can download either the regular Revolut app, or the Revolut <18 app, to view and manage transactions.
Revolut <18 accounts come with a linked spending card you can use with Apple or Google Pay for convenient mobile payments.
As well as all this, there are:
It’s worth noting that Revolut <18 accounts can only be opened in the base currency of the adult’s account - so usually USD if you’re here in the US.
Payments into the Revolut Junior account can only be made in this base currency, and if you spend in a foreign currency using a Revolut Junior card, currency conversion will be completed in the same way as it is for your adult account. However, as Revolut <18 accounts have lower fee free transaction limits compared to any adult Revolut account, fees may apply. More on that later.
Teens aged 13 plus can download the Revolut <18 app, and create a free Revolut Junior account. Here’s the process:
If you’re looking to open an account for a younger child, the adult will need to create the account themselves, through their own Revolut account. Simply log into the Revolut app to see your Junior account options.
There’s a specific app for the Revolut <18 account, which should be downloaded by the Junior account holder. The adult with a linked Revolut account can view the Junior account through the regular Revolut app. It’s also possible to add a co-parent or another guardian to a Junior account, so 2 adults can view and approve transactions on one Revolut Junior account.
Revolut is not a bank itself, but offers services in the US through partnerships with various banks and card providers. That means that any funds held are kept securely on behalf of customers, and Revolut - including Revolut Junior - is safe to use.
In addition to this, Revolut has various manual and automatic fraud prevention measures in place which run 24/7 to keep customers and their accounts safe.

One of the strongest features of the Revolut <18 account is the Revolut Junior card. You can get a standard card - or custom make your own design. In this case you can draw on it, add text, or even add emojis, although personalization fees may apply.
Parents can make transfers to the Revolut <18 account - to cover pocket money, for example - and the Junior account holder can then use their debit card to spend and make cash withdrawals securely.
Revolut’s Junior card also has handy features, such as transaction alerts to the linked adult account, so parents can keep an eye on their child’s spending, and transaction blocks for most unsuitable spending types. This means, for example, that the Revolut Junior card can’t usually be used to buy alcohol or to gamble.
