How to send money on Cash App

On Cash App, there are some specific sending situations, such as:

  • Sending money to someone within the US
  • Sending money to your bank account from your Cash App balance
  • Sending money internationally

Send money within the US

Sending a payment on Cash App is a quick and simple process. All you need to do is:

  1. Open Cash App
  2. Enter the amount you want to send
  3. Click “Pay”
  4. Enter the recipient’s phone number, email address or $Cashtag
  5. Enter the purpose of the payment (for example, “last night’s dinner”)
  6. Select “Pay”¹

And voila - you made your first Cash App payment!

Just be aware that there are Cash App sending limits, which you can increase by verifying your account.

📚 Send money without a debit card
You may also be wondering how to send money on Cash App without a debit card. If you want to send money on Cash App, you need to either have a linked bank account or linked credit card. So you don’t necessarily need a debit card.² Also, you don’t need a Cash App card to be able to send money on the app.

Cash out: Send money to your own bank account

Transferring money from Cash App to your bank account is simple. It has a specific name for transferring money from your Cash App balance to your bank account - “Cash out”.

To Cash Out money, all you need to do is:

  1. Open Cash App
  2. Click “Cash Out”
  3. Enter the amount you want to transfer and click “Cash Out”
  4. Select the speed of the transfer
  5. Confirm the transfer with your Touch ID or PIN³

When cashing out your money, you can choose the speed of the deposit. You can either do an instant transfer or a standard transfer.⁴ Standard transfers are free and take between 1-3 business days, while instant transfers charge a fee.

Send money internationally with Cash App

Have a friend in the UK? You’re in luck.

With Cash App you can send money from the US to the UK with just a few taps of the thumb. Cash App will convert your USD to GBP for you, using the mid-market exchange rate.⁵

How to receive money on Cash App

If you can send money on Cash App, then it pretty much goes without saying that you can also receive money on it. But another cool thing you can do is request money on Cash App.

To request money, all you need to do is enter the amount you want and select who you’re requesting from. Once your friend accepts your request, they’ll have to follow some easy steps to complete the transaction.²

All payments you receive through Cash App will be stored on your Cash App balance.²
