MHInsure is Malaysia Airlines travel insurance which is provided by the airline in partnership with Cover-More and Etiqa General Insurance Berhad. Malaysian customers can also use MHInsure to access insurance and takaful products covering home and motor insurance.
MHInsure offers various packages for domestic and international travel, including single trip cover and annual plans. We’ll look at the types of cover available in a moment.
To buy travel insurance you’ll need to meet certain eligibility requirements. However, as these requirements may vary depending on the plan you select, you’ll need to get in touch with MHInsurance directly to check the guidelines for the package you pick. Common requirements are set around the age of people who can be insured, the duration of your trips and the number of family members who can be added to a family plan, for example.
MHInsure offers travel insurance on a single trip or annual plan basis. Cover is offered either for domestic travel, or on an international basis for any destination including US and Canada. If you’re on an annual plan, no single trip can be for longer than 90 days in duration3.
As well as insurance products MHInsure offers travel takaful options4 which it states are Shariah compliant and come with the same benefits as the insurance, but with additional cover for Islamic pilgrimage.

MHInsure travel insurance covers 42 different types of claim in total. These claim types can be split into travel emergency or medical cover, and travel inconvenience cover. Packages are available for domestic travel only, or for worldwide international cover. Here’s a brief outline of what’s covered - bear in mind that this guide can not cover all the limits, terms and conditions of the cover, so you’ll need to read through your policy documents carefully before you sign up.

What you need to do to make a claim can vary depending on the type of claim involved. For example, if your luggage is lost or stolen, you’d need documents and information like a detailed breakdown of the contents of your lost case, a report from the airline, or a police report if theft was suspected. If you’re submitting a medical claim, you’ll need documents like a medical certificate or report from the doctor you’ve visited, and invoices and receipts for the bills you paid.
