Allianz offers a very broad range of life, health and savings insurance, as well as home, motor and travel insurance. When it comes to travel, Allianz has some flexible options covering both health and medical emergencies, and travel inconveniences. You’ll be able to pick the level of cover you prefer as some packages have higher limits for medical care and emergency support. However, it’s good to know that Allianz travel insurance covid cover is included as standard in some packages.
This guide walks through some of the things to think about if you’re considering Allianz travel insurance in Malaysia including cover options, eligibility and costs.
Different travel insurance plans have their own rules and requirements, including about who is eligible to be covered. You’ll need to carefully review the plan you pick to make sure it’s suitable for you. Basic requirements for Allianz travel insurance eligibility include:
Other eligibility rules apply, which you can read about in the Allianz travel care travel insurance PDS3 or the Allianz travel easy travel insurance PDS4 - or reach out to the Allianz team for more advice.
Broadly speaking you can select from 2 different insurance options: Allianz travel care travel insurance, and Allianz travel easy travel insurance. Both are available on an annual plan or a single trip basis, which might cover domestic travel, travel within Asia or worldwide travel - or a combination of different destinations. You can also opt to have individual cover or add family members to a single plan.
Allianz Travel Easy can only be purchased online, while you can get Travel Care cover through an authorised Allianz agent.

The exact cover you get from Allianz will depend on a number of factors including the policy you buy, where in the world you’re going and the age of people being insured. The key products are the Allianz Travel Easy and Travel Care policies, which are both available on a single trip or annual basis, locally or internationally, and can cover different individuals and groups based on your requirements.
To get an overview of the policy, you could take out with Allianz you’ll need to get a personal quote based on your situation - but to give a flavour we’ve highlighted annual plans and limits for a couple of key products. Bear in mind other limits may apply, and other types of cover may be available.
The basic cover options from travel insurance can be split into medical and emergency care, and travel inconvenience cover. The two packages from Allianz offer quite different cover for medical and emergency use - but often you’ll find that the travel inconvenience cover is quite similar. This means you can pick the package you prefer based on your preferred cover.
Here are some of the key cover levels for 2 example scenarios, for medical and emergency use:
Allianz Travel Easy (annual, overseas, adult) | Allianz Travel Care (annual, overseas, adult) | |
---|---|---|
Personal accident - death or disablement | 200,000 MYR | 500,000 MYR |
Accident and illness - overall limit | To a maximum of 200,000 MYR | To a maximum of 350,000 MYR |
Emergency evacuation | To a maximum of 1 million MYR | To a maximum of 10 million MYR |
Travel cancellation | Maximum claim 25,000 MYR | Maximum claim 25,000 MYR |
Travel support offered by the 2 different packages can be set at a fairly similar level, although it’s still worth getting a quote for features and fees of each package based on your unique situation, if you’re not sure which to get. Here are some of the key cover areas looking at travel and travel inconveniences - other items may also be covered, and there may be additional limits above those listed here.
Allianz Travel Easy (annual, overseas, adult) | Allianz Travel Care (annual, overseas, adult) | |
---|---|---|
Lost luggage | Maximum claim 5000 MYR | Maximum claim 5000 MYR |
Luggage delay | Maximum claim 800 MYR | Maximum claim 800 MYR |
Loss of travel documents | Maximum claim 5000 MYR | Maximum claim 5000 MYR |
Travel cancellation | Maximum claim 25,000 MYR | Maximum claim 25,000 MYR |
The price you pay for travel insurance with Allianz or any other provider can vary a lot based on the package you prefer, your destination and who is being covered.
To give a quick example, for the Travel Easy package, on a worldwide basis, for an individual adult you may get quotes like these:
- Trip of 1 - 5 days: 100 MYR
- Trip of 6 - 10 days: 135 MYR
- Trip of 11 - 15 days: 180 MYR
- Trip of 16 - 22 days: 250 MYR
- Annual plan: 450 MYR
You can add on several different packages for additional sports if you’ll be taking part in any higher risk or adventurous activities while you’re away from home. Not all add-on packages are available to all customers - but all the details and extra premiums are available in the various package product disclosure sheets.
