BigPay is a popular e-wallet in Malaysia under AirAsia, which features a digital account and debit card. Both physical and digital versions of the card are available, and it allows users to spend and make withdrawals from their BigPay balance both locally and abroad.
Read on to find out how you can use your BigPay card and its compatibility with Apple Pay. We’ll also introduce an Apple wallet compatible multi-currency card - the Wise card.

Apple Pay is a free application on which you can add one or multiple debit cards to your phone, watch, or Apple device. This way, you can make contactless mobile payments in stores without your physical cards and save your card and shipping details on your devices for ease of shopping online.
Apple Pay also allows the addition of various other documents like boarding passes, public transportation cards, and even rewards cards (subject to compatibility). Users can then access these cards and passes directly from their iPhone lock screen, without having to comb through files and emails.
Now for the big question - Does Apple Pay support BigPay? Unfortunately, both the physical and virtual BigPay cards are not compatible with the Apple wallet and cannot be used for Apple Pay.
That is not to say that the BigPay¹ physical and virtual cards do not come with their own uses. The physical BigPay card is a Visa card that allows you to transact in multiple currencies online and make contactless payments in-store. It also allows you to withdraw cash both whether you’re at home or abroad.
The virtual card, on the other hand, comes in handy to pay bills, send money to other BigPay account holders or make international transfers. You can also make contactless QR-code payments in-stores at DuitNow merchants.
If you’re on the search for banks or cards supported by Apple Pay³ for ease of usage, the following list is where you can look:

Google Pay can be considered the Android-friendly alternative to Apple Pay. By adding your card details to your Google Account, you can make seamless online transactions across all your devices on Chrome and Android and contactless payments in-stores.
However, just like Apple Pay, Google Pay, too, does not support Big Pay.
To use the Google Pay function on your devices, here are a list of compatible banks and cards² for your consideration:
Instead of toggling apps and physical cards with BigPay, consider the Wise card for smooth transactions. Compatible with both Apple Pay and Google Pay, it allows for seamless contactless payments, spending, transfer of funds, and cash withdrawals whether you’re in Malaysia or abroad - as long as the store or merchant accepts contactless payments, you should be good to go.
