AmBank has been around for more than four decades, supporting Malaysia’s economic development since its inception and providing both bank-related services for all types of customers, as well as Islamic banking, underwriting of general insurance, family takaful, investments and more.
In this guide, find out more about AmBank cards’ compatibility with Apple Pay, and also discover another product that can be used with your Apple Wallet - the Wise card.
What is Apple Pay?
Apple Pay is a free application on which you can add one or multiple debit cards to your phone, watch, or Apple device. This way, you can make contactless mobile payments in stores without your physical cards and save your card and shipping details on your devices for ease of shopping online.
Apple Pay also allows the addition of various other documents like boarding passes, public transportation cards, and even rewards cards (subject to compatibility). Users can then access these cards and passes directly from their iPhone lock screen, without having to comb through files and emails.
Can I add my AmBank card to my Apple Wallet?
Does AmBank support Apple Pay? In particular, does the AmBank debit card also support Apple Pay? The answer to these questions is yes, with some caveats.
First things first, AmBank can be used with Apple Pay1, being one of the early adopters to provision for this digital payment platform when Apple Pay arrived in Malaysia. However, you will need to have an AmBank credit card/-i (not debit), and both Mastercard and Visa are fine.
Just add your selected AmBank credit card/-i in the Apple Wallet app, follow the onscreen instructions and you are all set for your journey of seamless contactless payments.
