Regions Bank exchange rates

If you send money abroad in the currency of your bank account, there’s a good chance that the receiving bank will be the one converting the money and likely charging the receiver for it. As an alternative you can also have your bank do the conversion, which usually happens when you create the payment in the currency of the recipient.

Whichever bank does the conversion for you, you should keep in mind that they most likely won’t use the mid-market rate that they use to trade between themselves, they’ll use a marked up exchange rate instead. Also the recipient may get charged by their bank upon receiving the money, regardless of which bank did the converting.

Therefore it’s important to also compare the exchange rate you’re being offered as well as the fees applied by different providers.
