Chase transfer limits overview

Chase Bank is known for its somewhat complex transfer limits, which are set dynamically every day.¹

The good news is you don’t have to apply for a limit increase. The bad news is you won’t know what your exact limit is from one day to the next. Your limit shouldn’t drop drastically overnight, but it can change.

You’ll have to log in to your app or the website to see what your current limit is for the day.

Need to send a large amount? With Wise, you can send up to 1,000,000 USD per wire transfer to 140+ countries — and we automatically apply a discount when you send over 25,000 USD (or equivalent)*.

How much can I transfer from my Chase account every day?

The amount you can transfer from your Chase account changes every day. Chase determines your limit based on several factors, including your recipient, account balance, and transaction history. Once you set up a transaction, you’ll be able to see your remaining limit for the day.

If you attempt to transfer an amount that exceeds your limit, you’ll be notified and will have to reduce the payment amount. Monthly limits also vary.

To maximize your limit, try maintaining higher revolving balances. You can also contact customer support for additional information about factors that influence your limits.

What is the Chase Zelle® transfer limit?

The Chase Zelle® transfer limit per day is “dynamically” determined every time you set up a transaction.² Your transaction will fall within one of Chase’s tier limits, which factors in the total you can send to all recipients within that day.

Unfortunately, you can’t simply log in and see a fixed Chase Zelle® transfer limit. When you log in to your Chase Mobile® app, you’ll see your limit for the transaction you’re setting up as well as your remaining daily limit. However, that limit could be different the very next day. This can be frustrating, especially if your limit drops and you aren’t sure why.

With that in mind, you should have some alternative payment options ready to go. Otherwise, you may need to make a transfer only to find that you’re over your daily limit.

Chase international transfer limits

There is no Chase Bank wire transfer limit. The IRS doesn’t limit wire transfers, either. However, your institution is required to complete an IRS reporting form if your transfer exceeds 10,000 USD.

Making an international wire transfer involves other costs as well. For example, you’ll have to pay a mid-market exchange rate and other fees, which can quickly add up. Make sure to compare all of your options before sending a transfer.

How can you check your Chase transfer limits?

The best way to check your limits is to log in to your Chase account on your desktop or open your Chase Mobile® app. Once you initiate a transfer, your limit will be displayed in your app. You’ll see your remaining transfer cap after the first transaction is completed.

These limits reset daily. They’re also set daily, meaning there may be minor fluctuations from one day to the next. However, major day-to-day changes in your transfer limit are unlikely.

💡 Remember, there are no Chase wire transfer limits. Only ACH and Zelle® transactions are subject to these limits.

Can you increase your transfer limits at Chase?

Chase doesn’t disclose all of the factors that it uses to dynamically set transfer limits. That said, we do know that your available balance and account history play a role. Maintaining higher balances for a longer period may unlock higher limits.

Unfortunately, many other factors influence your cap, including your recipient.

You’ll be able to see the daily cap for Zelle® and ACH transfers when you set up your first transaction of the day. For more information, contact Chase customer service. They can provide specifics and offer tips for increasing your transfer limits.

What are Chase’s transfer fees and charges?

Chase doesn’t charge any fees for Zelle® or ACH transfers. These are free services for members.

When wiring money with Chase, you’ll incur fees for both inbound and outbound transactions. Here’s a look³:

Transfer typeFee
Chase-to-Chase inbound wiresNo fee
Inbound wires from other institutions15 USD
Outbound domestic wires35 USD; 25 USD if set up online
Outbound international wires50 USD; 40 USD if set up online

However, these aren't all the fees you'll encounter.

When you send money overseas, your bank calculates the cost of converting USD to a foreign currency. While the mid-market exchange rate is the fairest rate, most banks add a markup to profit from the exchange. For instance, when you send an international transfer, Chase sets its own rates and includes a "spread" to earn money on your transaction.
