Format of a SWIFT/BIC number
En SWIFT-/BIC-kod innehåller 8–11 tecken som identifierar land, stad, bank och bankkontor.
- Bank code A-ZFyra bokstäver som representerar banken. Det ser vanligtvis ut som en kort version av bankens namn.
- Country code A-ZTvå bokstäver som representerar landet som banken är i.
- Location code 0-9 A-ZTvå tecken som består av bokstäver eller siffror. Det säger var bankens huvudkontor är.
- Branch Code 0-9 A-ZTre siffror som specificerar ett särskilt bankkontor. "XXX" representerar bankens huvudkontor.
Varför behöver du en SWIFT-/BIC-kod?
Om du skickar eller tar emot pengar internationellt mellan banker, och särskilt för internationella banköverföringar eller SEPA-betalningar, måste du ange en SWIFT-kod. SWIFT-koder hjälper banker att bearbeta betalningar utomlands.

Vad är en SWIFT-/BIC-kod
A SWIFT code — sometimes also called a BIC number — is a standard format for Business Identifier Codes (BIC). It’s used to identify banks and financial institutions globally. It says who and where they are — a sort of international bank code or ID.
Dessa koder används när pengar överförs mellan banker och i synnerhet för internationella pengaöverföringar eller SEPA-betalningar. Banker använder även dessa koder för att utbyta meddelanden med varandra.
