If you're looking to send money to the USA, you might come across ACH transfer: one of the popular methods of money transfers in America. But can you use it to send money from India? Direct ACH transfers to the USA as a method is generally not supported by banks in India - but you can do so via third-party providers such as Wise.

In India, ACH generally refers to the National Automated Clearing House (NACH) system, operated by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI). NACH facilitates high-volume, electronic, and repetitive transactions such as salaries and bill payments. Many providers offer setting up an "ACH mandate" that allows the receiver to automatically withdraw money from your bank account.
NACH is designed for domestic transactions within India. Sending international ACH transfers directly from India is generally not supported by Indian banks.
In America, ACH (Automated Clearing House) is a system that helps send money electronically. It's a common method for direct deposits and bill payments in the USA.
While the US ACH system can receive international ACH transactions, there are very limited providers that offer international ACH transfer service, Since these transfers are usually initiated from within the US financial system, direct transfer via US ACH system from Indian banks is generally not supported.
Since international ACH transfers are generally not directly supported by Indian banks, you typically cannot make international ACH transfers from India to the USA from within your Indian bank. Banks would ask you to use their transfer services instead, such as International Wire or SWIFT transfers - which are subject to their own transfer fees plus marked-up exchange rates.
