It’s easy to create a Skrill digital wallet, but you’ll need to verify your account to access all features.
We’ve put together a step-by-step guide about how to use Skrill in Canada.
Step 1. Head to the Skrill website and select “Register”. You can then fill out your personal details, including your name, email address, country, province, and main currency. You’ll also need to create a password for your account
Step 2. Once you’ve created an account, Skrill will ask you to verify your email address. Log into your email account and follow any verification instructions
Step 3. Log into your new Skrill account using your email and password. You’ll need to select the main reason for using Skrill and enter any further personal information. You can also create a PIN for extra account security
Step 4. Now, you can start to add funds to your Skrill digital wallet. You’ll need to connect your bank account to send, spend, and receive your money with Skrill¹
Although you can still use Skrill without account verification, this extra level of security can help you access higher transfer limits and other key features. You’ll also need to verify your account if you want to reach a different Skrill customer level.
Let’s take a look at the verification process.
Step 1. First, log into your Skrill account and select “Verify Account”
Step 2. Follow the necessary steps to verify your identity. You’ll need to submit a valid photo ID and take a selfie for your account
Step 3. Next, you’ll need to verify your postal address.² And that’s it – you’re now a verified Skrill user!
If you want to verify your Skrill Canada account, you’ll need a few key pieces of documentation to complete your application. You can take photos of these documents and upload them via the Skrill website or app.
First, you’ll need proof of identity. This can include:
It’s important to make sure your ID document is a valid, color copy with all your identifying details in the frame.³
You’ll also need a proof of address. This can include:
This proof of address will need to contain your name, your current address, and a document issue date. The issuing institution's name and website should also be visible in the image frame.⁴
You may be charged for sending and receiving your money with Skrill, particularly if you’re converting your money into different currencies.

Depending on the amounts you transfer and how often you move your money, Skrill has a few different customer levels, including advantages for customers in each tier.
Skriller is the basic Skrill customer level. Once you sign up for a Skrill digital wallet, you’ll become a Skriller. At this level, you can:
Becoming a True Skriller lets you access a few key benefits, including lower transfer fees when sending money to other Skrill users. Skrill is also introducing new perks and bonuses for True Skrillers, including a loyalty points scheme.
You can access this level by making an eligible deposit into your Skrill account and verifying your identity via the app.⁸
VIP Skriller is the top customer level at Skrill, with daily perks for members.
There are a few different levels of VIP Skriller, including Silver, Gold, and Diamond. The amount of money you transact every quarter will determine your VIP level, with lower fees for those who use Skrill more frequently.
VIP Skriller members are the only customers who can access more than one personal account at once, including multi-currency options and free money transfers.⁹ You can also contact the 24/7 support in English and access priority bank uploads if you reach this level.¹⁰
