There are a few fees and transfer limits to consider before sending your money to the Philippines. Let’s take a closer look.
Your fees will depend on the type and size of your transfer.
For example, Interac or cheque payments to PNB accounts up to 3000 CAD cost 11 CAD, whereas payments to other local banks may cost 12 CAD.³
If you want to send cash, you’ll need to pay 13 CAD to credit a PNB account and 14 CAD to send money to a different local bank. It costs 12 CAD to send an EMT to a PNB account.³
You need to consider the exchange rate used for your transfer. Many banks add a markup to the mid-market exchange rate, which increases the cost of your transaction.
All listed PNB rates are in US dollars. As of 4 June 2024 at 05:01 EDT, PNB buys Canadian dollars for 0.7238 USD and sells them for 0.7382 USD.⁴
This means there’s a small difference between the buy and sell rates, with a slight margin compared to the mid-market exchange rate.
You can’t send more than 2500 CAD by cash with PNB, and you can only send up to 1000 CAD by email.
You need to discuss cheque payments over 20,000 CAD with your local branch.³
The amount of time it takes to send your transfer can depend on the method you use, and when you send your payment.
If you want to send an EMT to the Philippines, for example, your recipient should receive their funds immediately.
However, if you send your transfer on the weekend , on holidays or Fridays after 6pm EST, you need to allow 1 to 2 business days.¹
