You can easily close your Neo Financial account via the Neo mobile app or online banking online banking platform.
You’ll need to log into your account and start a chat with the Neo Virtual Assistant. You can access 24/7 help and advice, with support from specialists from 7am to 8pm MST.¹ You can also contact Neo Financial by phone at 1-855-636-2265.¹
You need to be the primary cardholder for your account and you may also need to provide your cancellation in writing. It’s important to reach out to Neo Financial for further advice.²
After you close your Neo Financial account, you may continue to receive bank statements from the provider. This usually happens because you have a remaining positive or negative balance in your account.³
You can stop receiving credit statements by making a payment to bring your balance to 0 CAD. You can also contact Neo Financial to transfer your outstanding balance into another account.³
Remember that deleting your credit account does not necessarily deactivate your credit card. Make sure to contact Neo Financial directly to understand how to stop receiving communication about any cancelled accounts.
After you close your Neo Financial account, the company may still retain your data, such as your credit card information, card number and personal details.
Deleting your data can prevent scammers from accessing your personal information in case of a data breach, as your credentials could be used to sign up for credit cards or loans. You may also want to prevent third-party organizations from getting hold of your data without your consent.
You can use the Neo Financial app to ask for your data to be deleted. Simply log into the app, select “Profile” and then “Contact us” to start a chat.⁴
You can also request the deletion of your data through the Neo Financial website. Log into your online account, select “Profile” and then “Help” to chat with an advisor.⁴
You can only delete your data at Neo Financial if you have a Neo profile with no product or application in progress and the provider must first review and approve your application.⁴
Due to government regulations and anti-money laundering laws, Neo Financial must keep your data for at least 5 years. However, the provider uses advanced security to protect your information.⁴
Neo Financial may not be the best choice if you regularly send and receive money abroad, as you can’t use the provider to make wire transfers outside Canada.
