Read on for everything you need to know about sending and receiving international wire transfers with Bank of Hawaii.
Marcus by Goldman Sachs®¹ offers savings accounts, CDs, investments, loans and credit cards to eligible customers in the US. It’s a digital only service, which means you can manage your money with just your phone or laptop for convenience.
But what about moving money out? Can you make a Marcus international wire transfer, and if so, what’s the Marcus international wire transfer fee?
This guide has you covered - plus we’ll touch on Wise as a convenient and low cost way to send payments to 70+ countries globally with the mid-market rate and low fees².
At the time of writing you cannot send a payment overseas with Marcus by Goldman Sachs³.
If you have money in your account that you need to send elsewhere in the world, you’d need to use a third party service.
Because Marcus only lets you make withdrawals to linked bank accounts in your own name⁴, you probably can’t pay for your overseas transfer directly from your Marcus account.
You may be able to withdraw your money from Marcus to a linked US bank in your name, and then use that to pay for your international transfer, instead.
You’ll be able to move your money from Marcus to another account you have linked. Linked accounts must be in the US, and held in your own name. Once you’ve done that you can use a third party service to send your payment overseas.
Different third party providers have their own processes, but mostly they’re pretty intuitive and you can register and send a payment with just your phone.
To give an idea, let’s look at how to send a payment with Wise: |

Marcus doesn’t charge a fee for withdrawing your money from your account to another linked account. Once you’ve got your funds out you can pick a third party transfer service to help you send your payment.
Each provider sets their own fees, which can vary a lot based on where you’re sending money to, the value of the payment, and how you want it to be delivered. Compare a few services before you choose one, so you’ll know you’re getting a great deal.
When you’re comparing third party payment services remember to watch out for any extra fees, or costs that are trickier to spot.
Usually, when you send a payment overseas you’ll pay one or more of the following charges:
