You can’t use Venmo on Amazon directly - but there is a simple enough solution. If you’d rather make Venmo Amazon payments, you can apply for a Venmo card¹ - and use this to pay on Amazon instead - but you can’t make international payments with it.
For international payments, an alternative like the Wise debit card might be better – but more on this later.
This guide covers all the basics, including how to use Venmo on Amazon with the Venmo debit card, and how to get set up with the Venmo card on your Amazon account.
You can’t pay with Venmo directly on Amazon. However, get a Venmo debit card and you can use that to pay on Amazon instead.
The Venmo debit card is on the Mastercard network, so it’s accepted by any US retailer displaying the Mastercard logo. It’s important to know that you can’t use your Venmo card internationally - which includes online purchases made on Amazon from merchants based abroad.
The Venmo debit card is already available to most Venmo users. It’s being rolled out progressively to more customers - let’s look at how to apply²:
- Open the Venmo app
- Look for either the stacked line logo, or the cards tab, depending on which app version you use
- Select Venmo Debit Card
- Click Get the Venmo Card
- Work through the card options, including the color you want to receive
- Enter your personal details and address
- Follow the prompts to complete all the required information
- Review and tap Submit
You’ll need to provide some personal information to get your Venmo card, including³:
- Date of birth
- Details to show your identity like your SSN
You may also need to provide documents to support your application - you’ll be notified if that’s required.
We mentioned that the Venmo card is being rolled out to more users at the moment. That means it’s possible you won’t be able to apply just yet - instead you’ll see a Get in Line message when you start the application process. Click that to be added to the waitlist, and you’ll be automatically informed when the card is available for you.

With Venmo, transfers and card payments are not available internationally. For this reason, we suggest you get yourself a Wise debit card to spend online with merchants based overseas, and get the real exchange rate every time.
Open a Wise account online for free, and use your linked debit card to spend wherever you like - in the US, abroad, and online. You can even add your Wise card to Apple Pay and Google Pay for mobile payments on the go.
No matter where in the world you’re spending, you’ll cut the costs of currency conversion, and get the real mid-market exchange rate.
Although Amazon doesn’t allow direct Venmo payments, an increasing number of retailers do accept Venmo as a payment method. To pay in person with Venmo you’ll just need to scan your Venmo QR code at the checkout.
Here are some popular stores which allow Venmo payments:
- Abercrombie & Fitch
- Forever 21
- Foot Locker
- Uber Eats
- Urban Outfitters
You can’t make a direct transfer from your Venmo account to PayPal. However, there are some options available if you need to move money from one to the other, including adding both PayPal and Venmo to the same linked bank account.

Paying for goods on Amazon directly using Venmo is not possible. The only option at the moment is to get a Venmo card and use that to pay - but this only works when you’re shopping online with local US retailers.
