PayNow QR Supplement to the Customer Agreement

1. About this Supplement

1.1 This PayNow QR Supplement is a contract between you as an individual (“you”) and Wise Asia-Pacific Pte. Ltd. (“Wise/us/we”) which sets out the terms and conditions on which you are allowed to make use of the PayNow QR service in Singapore through your Wise App for certain specified types of payments (the “PayNow Service”), and subject to the limits set out below.

1.2 Please note that the terms set out in the Customer Agreement that you had agreed to upon the creation of your Wise Account will continue to apply to your use of Wise’s Services as detailed in the relevant Customer Agreement. This Supplement only applies to your use of the PayNow QR service in Singapore.


2. Why you should read this Supplement

2.1 What this Supplement covers. These are the terms and conditions on which you are able to make use of the PayNow Service in Singapore through your Wise App.

2.2 Why you should read it. Please read this Supplement carefully before you start using the PayNow Service. This Supplement (always together with the documents referred to in it) tells you who we are, how you may use the PayNow Service, how this Supplement may be changed or ended, what to do if there is a problem and other important information. If you think that there is a mistake in this Supplement or require any changes, please contact us to discuss.

2.3 You agree to the Supplement. All future changes set out in the Customer Updates section of our Website at the time you make any transaction using the PayNow Service are incorporated into this Supplement. Please do not use the PayNow Service if you do not agree to this Supplement.

By using the PayNow Service, you confirm that you accept and agree to this Supplement (including any future amendments and additions to this Supplement as published from time to time, and your continued use of the PayNow Service after any such changes, whether or not reviewed by you, shall constitute your consent and acceptance of the revised Supplement). We reserve the right to enhance, modify or cancel any features and benefits of the PayNow Service without prior notice.

4. About the PayNow Service

4.1 The PayNow Service allows you to make payment for goods and services by scanning a quick response (“QR”) code using your mobile device camera through the Wise App.

4.2 The PayNow Service is only available to you in Singapore.


5. How to use the PayNow Service

5.1 In order to use the PayNow Service, you must first have an existing Wise Account and must have downloaded the Wise App, and have agreed to the Customer Agreement that is relevant to you at the time of your Wise Account creation. All Services other than the PayNow Service shall continue to be governed by the prevailing Customer Agreement that you have agreed to. You must also ensure that your Wise App has the appropriate permissions, such as use of your mobile device’s camera, enabled.

5.2 The PayNow Service can only be used to make payment for the purchase of goods and services in Singapore at participating merchants. Note that some merchants may not allow you to use the PayNow Service to make payment. Please ensure that the merchant allows payment through the PayNow Service prior to using the PayNow Service. This will usually be indicated by a “PayNow” logo.

5.3 To make payment using the PayNow Service:

  • (a) select the option to pay using a QR code in your Wise App;
  • (b) ensure that the QR code is fully captured within the camera’s viewfinder;
  • (c) enter the amount that you will be paying (if it has not already been pre-entered);
  • (d) ensure that the details of the payment (including amount to be paid and merchant details) are accurate, and enter a reference note if needed; and
  • (e) provide the required confirmations.

5.4 The amount that you are paying will be deducted from your SGD balance, or if you do not have an SGD Balance, an equivalent amount will be converted from another Balance.You will not be able to select the Balance from which the amount will be deducted. You will be informed prior to confirmation of payment of the amount that will be converted and any fees incurred in making such a conversion. Any amount within a Jar will not be available to be deducted in the above manner.


6. Restrictions of the PayNow Service

6.1 The PayNow Service is only available to you while you are geographically located in Singapore. Wise reserves the right to take such action as it considers appropriate in the event that you make use of the PayNow Service while you are geographically located outside of Singapore.

6.2 Each transaction made using the PayNow Service is limited to a maximum of SGD1,000.

6.3 The aggregate of all transactions made using the PayNow Service in any calendar year is limited to a maximum of SGD20,000. If you exceed this amount, your transaction will be declined.

6.4 Transactions using the PayNow Service may only be made between you as an individual and a merchant that is providing goods and/or services to you. The PayNow Service cannot be used to carry out money transfers to other individuals, and cannot be used to withdraw funds from your balance as cash in any manner.

6.5 You must not make purchases that exceed the amount of electronic money available in your Wise Account. If any purchase takes you over your available funds or the limits specified above or as otherwise prescribed from time to time, the transaction will be declined.


7. Important notes

7.1 No warranty for services. Other than expressly set out in this Supplement or in the Customer Agreement, neither Wise, nor our officers, directors, employees, suppliers, agents and relevant entities make any specific promises about our services. For example, we do not make any commitments about the quality, safety, legality, or any other aspect of any goods or services purchased with the PayNow Service. We are also not liable for any loss arising from any merchant refusing to accept a transaction using the PayNow Service. You are also responsible for losses arising from gross negligence, or failing to conduct adequate due diligence on the merchants you transact with.

Wise does not guarantee that the PayNow Service will always be available or uninterrupted. In particular, there may be instances where the PayNow Service may not be available due to technical difficulties beyond our control, and Wise shall not be liable in any such event. We may suspend, withdraw, discontinue the use of the PayNow Service or any part of our other services without notice. We will not be liable to you if for any reason the PayNow Service is unable to be used for you at any time or for any period.

The PayNow Service is provided to you strictly on an “as is” basis. All conditions, representations and warranties, whether express, implied, statutory for other, including without limitation, any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement of third party rights, are here excluded and disclaimed to the highest and maximum extent allowed under Singapore law.

7.2 We may change this Agreement at any time. We may change this Agreement at any time by posting a revised version on the App. The revised version will be effective once it is posted. Where appropriate, we may give you notice of any changes to this Supplement either by email or displaying a notice in the App. If you do not agree to the revised terms in this Supplement, you must cease use of the PayNow Service. If we do not hear from you, you will be considered as having accepted the proposed changes and they will apply to you from the effective date.

7.3 No liability for loss or damage. To the fullest extent permitted by law (and without limiting any other provision in this Supplement), we, and our related entities, exclude all liability to you or anyone else for any loss or damage of any kind (howsoever caused or arising) arising from or in connection with the Services.

7.4 Hold harmless. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, you shall be responsible and hold us (and our officers, directors, employees, suppliers, agents and related entities) harmless from any and all loss, damage, liabilities, claims, costs and expenses due to, or arising out of or in connection with, your breach of this Supplement or any applicable law or regulation, your use of the PayNow Service and/or any fraud by you. This provision shall continue to be in force even after you cease using the PayNow Service.

7.5 Governing law. This Agreement is governed by Singapore law. Any dispute between you and us in connection with the Services and/or this Agreement shall be brought in the courts of Singapore.
