What do you need to open a PayPal account?

To create a Personal PayPal account, you need the following information²:

  • First and Last Name
  • Home Address
  • Email Address
  • Phone Number (with country code)

To create a Business PayPal account, you need the following information³:

  • First and Last Name
  • Email Address
  • Password (high strength)
  • Tax ID/Social Security Number
  • Business Description
  • Business Bank Account Details

Prepaid or online-only bank accounts are not compatible and therefore, do not integrate with Paypal.

How to make a PayPal account for personal use

To make a PayPal Personal account , follow the steps outlined below:

  1. Go to the sign up page.
  2. Choose the Personal account option and press the Sign up for a Personal Account button.
  3. In the next screen, enter your mobile number and press Next.
  4. The next screen will ask you to input the code you received on your mobile number.
  5. Once you confirm the code, you are taken to the next interface, that has form fields for your full name, your email address and your PayPal account password.
  6. Click Agree to the terms and conditions, and you are done!

How to create a PayPal business account

To make a PayPal Business account, follow the steps outlined below:

  1. Go to the sign-up page.
  2. Choose the Business account option and press the Sign up for a Business Account button.
  3. In the next screen, enter your email address and click on Next.
  4. Create a password and click on Submit.
  5. In the next step, you need to fill out all form fields related to your personal information and business details.
