Rex international flight partners

Rex might be a domestic airline but to expand their passenger’s options they’ve partnered with one of the United States major carriers, Delta Air Lines.¹ This partnership gives Rex flyers easy access to 40 cities across the USA, with all flights being under a single booking. This could make visiting North America much simpler, especially if you’re living in a regional area.

Going the other way, Delta Air Lines passengers from the US, Canada and Mexico can now fly through to capital cities and regional destinations across Australia including Melbourne, the Gold Coast and Coffs Harbour. As a visitor it’s a great opportunity to get out there and see more of what Australia has to offer.

Rex baggage allowance when connecting with international flights

If you’ve taken advantage of the partnership Rex has with Delta Air Lines then you should be able to find your baggage allowance on your ticket

Alternatively, if you have an international air or cruise connection within 24 hours of your flight, you can show a copy of the ticket or itinerary to staff at the Rex check in desk and you’ll be allowed to take 23kg of checked baggage per passenger for regional and domestic flights.⁴

Taking sports equipment or musical instruments on Rex

How sports equipment or musical instruments are treated on a Rex flight depends on what they are. Here’s a few of the items you can take and how they impact your baggage allowance.²

  • Included in the fare baggage weight allowance
Surfboards
  • Included in the fare baggage weight allowance
  • Maximum length of 2m on regional flights and 3m on domestic flights
Skis

Bicycles

  • Limit of 1 per passenger
  • Should be packed in a bike box or have the handlebars turned in, chain protected and pedals and front wheel removed then strapped to rear wheel.

Baby and Infant baggage allowance on Rex

Infants who aren’t occupying a seat have no checked baggage or hand luggage allowance.² If you need to take infant items they’re included in the checked baggage allowance of one of the adults. This includes prams and strollers.

It’s possible to take an approved infant car seat on-board during the flight but you will need to purchase a normal fare for the baby.²

Keep in mind

If you’re flying with baggage it’s best to know exactly what restrictions apply to your fare to avoid the higher fees charged at the airport for going over. You might also be pleasantly surprised if your flight path means you get a larger allowance than you’d expected.

If you don’t already have some it’s a good idea to get yourself some hand-held luggage scales so you can see how much your bags weigh. This is especially true if you’re flying out of a smaller airport in regional Australia that may not have scales available.
