The cons of using these credit cards

While rapidly accruing more Qantas miles can be very appealing, there are some instances where these cards may not be quite as beneficial as they appear at first glance.

We suggest reviewing:

  • Whether the comparably high annual fees and charges involved outweigh the value of the points accrued
  • Your ability to clear the card balance each statement period as unpaid balances can see your points accrual being frozen until resolved
  • Any applicable spending caps and how this will relate to your usual spending and ability to accrue the most points per statement
  • How you travel and when – Qantas reserves the right to impose blackout periods which can limit when you are permitted to use your points which may reduce their value to you

The credit limit provided by these credit cards

Available credit limits on these cards may vary. Typically, the limit provided to your business will be determined at the time your application is being processed.

Once approved for one of these cards, your available credit limit will be outlined in your Letter of Offer.

Can credit limits be increased?

If the offered limit is not suited to your business needs or your needs have changed since first receiving the card, you can broach this with the card issuer.

Requests to alter this limit are at the card issuer’s discretion and may require additional paperwork to be provided. This paperwork acts as proof that the increase is necessary and serviceable by your business in terms of repayments.

What are the fees for these Qantas credit cards?

Below is a breakdown of the main fees associated with each of the three cards covered in this guide.²

Alternatively, you may like to contact the bank or financial institution directly for assistance.

What if your application is rejected/declined

If your application for a Qantas Business credit card is rejected or declined, it is wise to seek clarification on why this has occurred.

There are several reasons why this may have happened and while the card issuer is under no obligation to explain these, most are willing to discuss this.

Small errors in the application could be the cause, however, more likely is an issue with your financials or credit history.

To access details about your credit history, the Australian government recommends contacting one of three trusted reporting agencies.⁸
