BOM offers three different business accounts, each differing depending on the types of transactions you’re looking to use. One of these options is primarily a savings account.
The Freedom Business Account is BOM’s main transaction business account and is primarily designed for electronic transactions, with the occasional need to drop into a branch. The monthly fee for this business account is $10 AUD per month, and provides access to the following¹:
The Business Cheque Account Plus is designed for electronic transactions, however, it also accommodates those that require more frequent need to bank in-branch. The monthly fee for this business account is $20 AUD per month, and provides the following¹:
The Business Access Saver account is BOM’s business savings account and is designed for putting money aside for business purposes including tax, savings, or unexpected expenses.¹
There is no monthly fee for this business account, however other fees may be applicable such as branch access charges.¹ The account provides the following features¹:

To apply for BOM business accounts, the steps differ slightly depending on the type of account you want to open. Here’s a run-through of how to open each type of business account with BOM:
To open a Freedom Business Account with BOM, there are two routes for application.
You can head to your nearest branch to apply for an account in person, however, you can also apply online if you’re a sole trader, a 1-director company, or already a BOM business customer.³
The Business Cheque Account Plus with BOM can only be opened in-branch. Online applications for this account are not available as yet.⁴
As with the Freedom Business Account, BOM’s Business Saver Account can be opened online if you’re:

A BOM business account can be managed online or via the Bank of Melbourne Mobile Banking App.
It’s not clear if there’s a minimum deposit or balance required with a BOM business account. There is, however, a minimum monthly balance of $100,000 that must be kept to avoid a monthly account-keeping fee of $10 AUD.⁷
It’s unclear on the amount of time it takes to open a business account at BOM.
The Freedom Business Account and the Business Access Saver account can be opened online, provided you’re a sole trader, a 1-director company, or already a BOM business customer.
If your business structure differs from those mentioned above, or if you’re looking to open a Business Cheque Account Plus, you will be required to appear in person at your local branch to open the account.
It is possible to apply for additional cards with BOM for other cardholders. Approval is at BOM’s discretion, and transactions made on the additional card will be debited to the main account.⁸
