How we work to keep your money safe: update given events with SVB
This article was updated on March 17th 2023 At Wise, we know that many have been affected by the events involving Silicon Valley Bank (SVB), and we are...
At the end of 2014 Wise was a tiny upstart, fighting against unfair finance. We'd celebrated moving $1 billion, but we knew we had work to do.
Today, a year on, we're humbled by your support. We're proud to help you move £500 million a month, globally, whilst saving you over £22 million in unfair bank fees. Wise now serves 50 countries using over 35 different currencies - that's over 450 country and currency route combinations. In 2015 we launched in the USA and Australia and now serve parts of every continent (except Antarctica, sorry penguins!)
As we move into 2016, we're taking fair, transparent money transfers further. In the coming months, we'll launch New Zealand, Hong Kong, Japan and China - then new global routes across South America.
If there's a currency you'd like us to support let us know here.
Plus, there are new products planned to help you take even greater control of moving money. Follow us on Twitter for the latest.
For all of us at Wise, one thing drives us forward - making the world of finance fairer for everyone.
We’ve staged protests in New York, Paris, London and Barcelona for fairer finance and we’ve petitioned the UK government for greater transparency around money transfer fees.
Plus, we've just launched our report on the Future of Finance - you can read more here.
It’s been an incredible journey and we’re only just getting started. It’s because of you, our customers, that we’re able to connect more of the world with Wise.
So thank you. Here’s to a happy and fairer 2016.
