What’s Bank of America’s exchange rate?

If you want to exchange your US dollars for euros, you’ll need to think about any exchange rate costs.

Most banks and money transfer providers add a markup to the standard conversion rate for foreign currency exchanges.

You’ll pay this charge on top of the regular exchange rate – and it can add a significant chunk to your euro exchange.

Bank of America uses something called an exchange rate ‘spread.’ This is the difference between the price the provider buys and sells their foreign currencies for – and Bank of America will make a profit from your exchange.¹

Look out for the mid-market exchange rate. This is the fair, standard rate for currency conversions – without any hidden markups or profit margins.
