Unfortunately you generally can’t cancel your Scoot flight for a refund as the tickets are non-refundable and non-cancellable.¹ There are only three exceptions to this policy.
Since Scoot has such a limited cancellation policy, you may be best to reach out to them over the phone or by email. That way you can quickly find out if you’re actually able to cancel the ticket and can check if you might be eligible for a refund.
How you apply for a Scoot refund varies depending on the reason for cancellation.
If you're cancelling due to medical or compassionate reasons you need to submit your refund application and supporting documents using the Scoot webform.¹ What documents you need to provide depends on your circumstances but it could include the following.
Once they have your documentation, Scoot will review your request and decide whether you’re eligible for a refund. If you are, you’ll be refunded with non-transferable Scoot travel vouchers.
If Scoot makes a schedule change or cancellation that impacts your booking they will notify you by email or SMS with available options.¹ If the flight is delayed by more than 4 hours you may be eligible for a refund which will be offered when they contact you.
If you’re eligible to cancel your Scoot booking and receive a refund there’s no fees to worry about.² You’ll be refunded the itinerary value of the ticket, less any third party services.
On their website Scoot doesn't mention if there’s anything different that needs to be done if your flight was booked through a travel agent. To find out it’s best to reach out directly to Scoot or the agent you booked through.

If your flight is an Australian passenger flight and Scoot cancels it there’s usually two ways it can go.³
Occasionally Scoot may overbook a flight. If they do this they’ll ask for volunteers to change to the next available flight.³
If there aren’t enough volunteers they will then select passengers to be moved.³ If this happens to you, you can elect to cancel the flight for a full refund or be rebooked. Either way, if they try to move you due to overbooking you’ll be given a Scoot travel voucher to apologise for the inconvenience.
If you are eligible for a Scoot travel voucher the details will be sent to you within 30 business days of your refund being processed.⁴ You then have 24 months from the date of issue to use it.
When looking at booking with Scoot it’s a good idea to keep their flight cancellation policy in mind as it’s somewhat strict. If you think you might need a bit more flexibility you may want to look into some other flight options and see if the price difference for added cancellation flexibility is worth it to you.
If you want to get in touch with Scoot you can try calling one of these numbers.
They also have live chat and email options available on their website as well as more phone numbers for other regions of the world.
If you’re moved to a different type of aircraft that doesn’t support the ancillary services you purchased you’ll be refunded with travel vouchers.⁶ Examples of what could be refunded are your preferred seating fee and prepaid Wifi access.
The vouchers are sent to the email address attached to your booking, are valid for 24 months and are non-transferrable.
Yes, instead of cancelling you can change the timing of your Scoot flight up to 4 hours prior to the scheduled departure time.⁷
There’s a few ways you can organise this.⁷
Keep in mind that there’s fees and charges that apply to timing changes. To find out what they currently are you’re best to check the Scoot website, but it will include the following.⁷
