Felix International roaming. What is it and how does it work

International Roaming with Felix allows you to use your mobile plan while travelling internationally. It allows you to make calls, send texts and access data overseas using the same Felix SIM that you would use when at home in Australia.²

International roaming packages available with Felix

Currently, Felix offers just one option for international roaming. Rather than a stand-alone package, this is provided as an add-on to one of their three pre-paid plans.²

The roaming add-on is available to existing customers for AUD$20 and features:

• 4GB of data
• 100 standard international minutes of incoming and outgoing calls
• 100 standard international SMS
• 365 days of validity

Available to use in 40 selected countries, should your add-on run out of data, calls or SMS, you can then purchase another pack at any time through the Felix app.²

Do you get internet data & coverage Internationally with Felix roaming?

Yes, as outlined above, the roaming add-on provides internet access while abroad in selected countries, capped at 4GB of data per paid add-on.²

What is the cost to use Felix service abroad?

To access the AUD$20 international roaming option with Felix for your overseas trip, you will first need to sign up for one of their pre-paid mobile packages.

This means that the AUD$20 package price must be considered in addition to one of the below monthly plan charges when travelling.³

It must be noted that the above inclusions are only applicable in Australia and cannot be accessed while abroad. Only the roaming inclusions will be accessible outside Australia and only when activated and paid for.²

How do you activate roaming with Felix?

Once signed up to a Felix plan via their website you can then add International Roaming through the Felix mobile app.² Simply:

• open the app and tap Settings,
• then select International Roaming,
• followed by More info & how to buy

Then follow the prompts to add roaming and authorise payment.

Your plan will automatically switch over when you reach your included destination. Once you switch your phone on, you'll be alerted via text message to confirm roaming is activated.

How to track roaming usage with Felix

Monitoring or tracking your usage for data, calls or texts while using the Felix roaming add-on is easily done via the mobile app.⁴

Each usage category is listed separately with a clear graphic and text line indicating what has been used already and how much is remaining. Top-ups for roaming access and customer support are also accessible in the same app as needed.

It should be noted that data is deducted in per KB increments and calls charged in per minute increments. Additionally, rates used to calculate usage vary per country and are subject to change.²

What to keep in mind before you travel.

Just as with any roaming service or telco provider, it pays to keep in mind a few facts about Felix before deciding if they are right for your needs.

• While Felix offers relatively decent coverage for Europe and Asia, for example, they are less well suited to destinations such as South America, Africa or the Middle East
• Unlike some dedicated roaming SIMS, Felix requires you to sign up as a pre-paid customer to access their roaming services which can make roaming more expensive compared to other providers
• A digital enterprise, Felix does not offer direct phone support, rather customer care is only available via WhatsApp, their online chat service or the app

VoLTE stands for Voice over Long-Term Evolution or Voice over LTE. VoLTE offers the possibility to voice call via the LTE/4G mobile network with compatible devices.

Felix enables free-of-charge emergency assistance calls while abroad wherever network access is available. You can dial the local emergency number if known, if unknown, call 112 to be connected with the relevant emergency service in your region.⁵

What communication services can you use while abroad with Felix?

Felix provides access to SMS, calls and the internet for browsing or Wi-Fi calls. Calls to premium numbers, video calls, special and overseas free phone numbers are excluded.²
