An eSIM is a digital SIM card that you can use with your compatible mobile device to receive service from a cell phone operator, without having to insert a physical card. It only works with phones that have inbuilt eSIM capabilities as the technology relies on a SIM that’s permanently installed inside the phone.
Boost has four categories of plan available.¹
Within each of these categories there can be one or more plans on offer. This is what Boost has under the International Roaming category.

To install the Boost eSIM you just need the My Boost Mobile app, which is also where you can buy eSIM plans.²
Boost Mobile states that most phones made after 2020 support eSIMs, including devices from Apple, Samsung and Google.² Rather than giving a complete list of compatible devices on their website, the My Boost Mobile app will check your device’s compatibility during the download process.
If you want to speak to Boost you can try one of these methods to get in touch.
Here are a few FAQs related to buying and using a Boost Mobile eSIM.²
The process for changing between SIM card types varies between providers, but often it can be done through their mobile app.
With Boost Mobile, the first step to changing your physical SIM card to a Boost eSIM is to open the My Boost Mobile app. From there, there’s two ways to make the change.
With Boost Mobile the answer is no, you won’t lose your phone number or credit, and you don’t need to change plans either. The only thing that should change is the type of SIM card enabling your connection.
To get started with an eSIM you do need the internet to be able to download the carrier’s eSIM profile. Once that’s downloaded and you’ve activated the eSIM it’ll work like a physical SIM card, accessing data over the carrier's network based on whatever plan you’ve decided is best for you.
Dual SIM and eSIM are two different technologies which can work hand in hand inside your phone.
An eSIM enables you to connect to a phone service without needing to insert a physical SIM card, while dual SIM means your device can support two mobile network services working at the same time.
Some dual SIM mobiles also have eSIM technology, meaning you can use a physical SIM and an eSIM at the same time, with two different phone numbers. This is handy if you have a work and personal phone number, because it makes it possible to run both off a single device.
