Once you are approved by Maybank, you will be given a credit line that you can spend against. And since it's a Visa card, it can be used anywhere in the world. Online and in-person. Then every statement cycle, you will receive a bill stating how much you need to pay back. Can’t pay back the entire amount? Whatever is left will be hit with an interest rate.
But this card gets a little more complicated than that. There are additional fees for making your payment late or using your card abroad. Here is a list of standard fees for the Maybank FC Barcelona Visa Signature card below.

You can apply online through the Maybank website or through your nearest bank branch. In both cases, you will need to submit a copy of your NRIC, latest BE form with an official tax receipt, last 3 month’s salary slip, and your bank account statement for the last 6 months. If you hold a foreign passport, you will also need to submit a letter from your work that verifies your length of employment in Malaysia.²
The Maybank FC Barcelona Visa Signature card lets you shop and spend anywhere Visa is accepted. You have access to Visa ATMs globally, affiliate banks in 210 countries and the ease of walking into any of the 400 Maybank branches in Malaysia. But of course, keep an eye on the fees with this card. You also get additional benefits and perks when you use this card³. Let’s take a look at how they work.
You get 2% cashback on all purchases you make using this card, except for during the months of May and August. This does exclude utility payments and transactions with government bodies. You are also capped at a max of RM 50 per month on the cashback.
During the months of May and August, when the football season ends and starts, you get 10% cashback on all purchases made using the card. It is capped at RM 100 per month and only for these two specific months. The same transaction exclusions do apply. This card also gets you a 5% discount at the FCBotiga official store at Camp Nou.
The credit card gives you free travel insurance of up to RM 500,000. To qualify, you must have charged your full travel fare to the card. You can also claim other travel issues like loss or delay of luggage.
By using this card, you have access to Visa Signature’s concierge. They are available 24/7 to help with dining reservations, gifts purchases or any urgent needs you have.
Want to go see your favorite team this year? Well, this card can get you there but it won’t make it cheap. Overseas spending on the Maybank FC Barcelona comes with some hefty fees and a hidden exchange rate.
For any transaction you make outside of Malaysia you will have to pay an automatic 2.25% fee. Whether that’s for some paella or your hotel. Plus, if you need to get cash from ATMs, you will automatically be hit with a minimum fee of RM 18, even before you’ve spent any of the money.
Now another fee is hidden away in your exchange rate. With Visa deciding what exchange rate it wants to give you, it takes a slice of every currency conversion you make when using the card abroad. That means more money out of your pocket, and more into Visa’s. Tired of overpaying for global travel? Move your money across borders with Wise.
