We recently made changes in the US on how card transactions are processed.
Due to these changes, we’re deactivating personal Wise cards for customers registered in the US from March 2024.
How do I know if this change impacts me?
This change will only affect customers with a personal address in the US who have a personal Wise card in the US.
If you have a personal account with an address outside of the US, or you're a business customer with a business not registered in the US — you can keep using your card as usual.
What happens after my card is deactivated?
We'll send you an email to let you know about these changes. Your old Wise card will keep working for another 60 days after the email, or when you activate the new physical card.
After the 60 days, when the card is deactivated:
You can't make purchases in store or online with your old card
You can’t take cash out at ATMs with your old card
You can't spend with your card via mobile wallets like Apple Pay and Google Pay
Any subscriptions using these card details will fail
How can I get new cards?
There are a couple of things you can do to replace the old card.
Digital card
You can request a Wise digital card right away from the Card tab for free. You can use them instantly to spend online, or add them to mobile wallets like Google Pay or Apple Pay. You don’t need to do anything to activate a digital card.

Generally, you won’t be able to withdraw cash from the ATMs with a digital card, but some ATMs might support contactless — just looks for the contactless symbol.

You'll be able to see your new card in the list. Click on Card details to see the card number, expiry date and security code.
How much can I spend on my new card?
There are no changes to your existing spending limits, they stay the same. Just make sure you have enough money on your balance.

What if I don't get a new card?
If you don’t order a new card 60 days after the notifying email, we'll still cancel your existing card.
What if I get a refund to my old card details?
You’ll still be able to get refunds sent to your old card details, even after they’re deactivated.
Merchants can issue refunds to your old card for up to 120 days after the card is deactivated. You'll be able to see refunds on your Transactions page on the home screen, and funds will be credited to your balance as usual.
What do I need to do after my card is cancelled?
After your card is cancelled, you'll need to update any platforms, e-commerce websites and services, or subscriptions that still have your old card details.
If you have a new card, make sure you update with the new card details.
