How much does it cost to withdraw cash?

You can use your Wise card like any other bank card to withdraw money at ATMs around the world.

Here are the fees* dependent on where your card was issued:

  • If your card was issued in Europe or the UK: You can take out money for free twice a month — as long as the total amount is under 200 GBP/EUR. But after that, we’ll charge you 0.50 GBP/EUR per transaction. This is a fixed fee. If you take out over 200 GBP/EUR in one month, we’ll charge you 1.75% on top of that.

  • If your card was issued in Australia, New Zealand, or Singapore**: You can take out money for free twice a month — as long as the total amount is under 350 AUD/NZD/SGD. But after that, we’ll charge you 1.50 AUD/NZD/SGD per transaction. This is a fixed fee. If you take out over 350 AUD/NZD/SGD in one month, we’ll charge you 1.75% on top of that.

  • If your card was issued in Japan**: You can take out money for free twice a month — as long as the total amount is under 30,000 JPY. But after that, we’ll charge you 70 JPY per transaction. This is a fixed fee. If you take out over 30,000 JPY in one month, we’ll charge you 1.75% on top of that.

  • If your card was issued in the US: You can take out money for free twice a month — as long as the total amount is under 100 USD. But after that, we’ll charge you 1.50 USD per transaction. This is a fixed fee. If you take out over 100 USD in one month, we’ll charge you 2% on top of that.

  • If your card was issued in Malaysia: You can take out money for free twice a month — as long as the total amount is under 1,000 MYR. But after that, we’ll charge you 5 MYR per transaction. This is a fixed fee. If you take out over 1,000 MYR in one month, we’ll charge you 1.75% on top of that.

  • If your card was issued in Canada: You can take out money for free abroad twice a month — as long as the total amount is under the equivalent of 350 CAD. But after that, we’ll charge you the equivalent of 1.50 CAD per transaction. This is a fixed fee. If you take out over 350 CAD in one month, we’ll charge you 1.75% on top of that.

  • If your card was issued in Brazil: You can take out money for free twice a month — as long as the total amount is under 1,400 BRL. But after that, we’ll charge you 6.50 BRL per transaction. This is a fixed fee. If you take out over 1,400 in one month, we’ll charge you 1.75% on top of that.

If you’re using a different currency, the sum will be equivalent to the currency your card was issued in.

*If you withdraw cash in a currency you're not currently holding, we'll charge a conversion fee to convert for you. Learn more about spending fees

To check how much you can still withdraw for free, and when you can withdraw for free again:

On the iOS app

  1. Go to Account

  2. Select Manage card

  3. Select Manage payment methods

  4. Scroll down and select Account limits

  5. Select ATM withdrawals

On the Android app

  1. Go to Card

  2. Select Manage payment methods

  3. Scroll down and select Account limits

  4. Select ATM withdrawals

Keep in mind that you can’t check your balance at ATMs yet — but the Wise app will always show it.

You can’t view your spending limits on the website.

What if the ATM charges me a fee?

Some ATMs charge their own fees, and they’ll usually say so before you get started. If you see any extra fees, you’ll have the option to cancel and use a different ATM.

What if the ATM charges me a fee, or asks me to choose a currency?

ATMs may ask to convert your money for you. If you say yes to this option, they’ll often charge an unfair exchange rate.

To avoid extra fees from the ATM, be sure to choose the local currency where the ATM is.

**Japan, Singapore and Canada cardholders

If you got your debit card in Japan, Singapore or Canada you won’t be able to use it to make ATM withdrawals locally. But you’ll still be able to use your card to make payments locally and around the world, and withdraw from ATMs overseas.

If you got your card in Japan, you can withdraw money from ATMs overseas and might be able to use your card at these ATMs in Japan:

・AEON ・E-net ・Viewcard ・Daily Yamazaki
