Receiving domestically
Account details allow you to receive domestic transfers from the country, or countries, that use that currency.
For example, let's say you’ve moved from the UK to the US, and you’d like to receive money in British pounds from your family living in the UK. We’ll provide GBP account details that your family can send money to — this means no conversion or international fees. Similarly, you can receive GBP from your relatives in the UK even if you live in the UK.
Receiving internationally
Swift or international payments, are a way for someone to send money in a currency from almost any country in the world — even if that country doesn’t use that currency. When someone sends you an international payment, it comes through the Swift network.

Correspondent banks that help send this money can sometimes deduct their own fees from the sender's amount — Wise can't change this. You can ask your sender to opt for the OUR charges. This option allows the sender to cover all the correspondent charges.
What if my sender needs more details?
Your sender might ask you for some other information, like an institution number, transit number, routing number, or other details.
In some currencies, our partner bank doesn’t use these for international Swift payments, but you can still ask your sender to:
pay through a different bank that doesn’t need these details
check if their bank can process the payment with only the Swift/BIC code and account number we provide
