An overview of how Wise Payments Japan K.K. safeguards your money
If your account is registered in Japan, or you moved your Wise account address to Japan and your change of address was successfully processed, we protect your money according to Wise Payments Japan K.K. regulatory obligations in Japan.
This means if you’re a customer of Wise Payments Japan K.K., every business day we calculate our liabilities and deposit 100% of the equivalent value in cash in Japanese Yen (JPY) for the following products:
The money on all of your balances, regardless of the currency they are denominated in, and
All of the money you sent with Wise that has not reached its final destination yet, and
Any transaction you did with your Wise Card that has not yet been settled to the seller, and
Any money that you mistakenly sent to Wise and we are in the process of refunding
The entirety of the equivalent amount in JPY for the products defined above is calculated and deposited every business day in a trust account held at JSF Trust and Banking Co., Ltd (日証金信託銀行株式会社) based on the mid-market exchange rate for the day.
This guarantees your money is protected in the unlikely event Wise becomes insolvent.
We do this to make sure your money is always available to you, regardless of whether Wise is operating at scale.
