Open Banking is a faster and easier way of making an online bank transfer in the UK. Instead of going to your online banking in a separate window or on a different device, you can log in to a secure page hosted by your bank and authorise a payment to us, without manually setting up a transfer.
How to use Open Banking
At the payment step of making a transfer, choose Open Banking
Choose the bank you’re sending money from
Click Continue to pay
You’ll be taken to your bank’s website, where you’ll need to log in. You may also need to complete 2-factor authentication (like entering a code sent to your phone)
Pick which account you’d like to pay from, and click approve
That’s it — we’ll do the rest
Because the login page is a secure page hosted by your bank, Wise doesn’t have any access to the details you use to log in, or anything in your bank account, apart from the payment that you approve.
Limits to paying by Open Banking
Different banks set different limits for how much you can send by Open Banking. Generally, they’re between 10,000–50,000 GBP per transaction.
If you try to pay for a transfer that’s higher than your bank’s limits, you won’t see your bank as an option in Open Banking.
