Guide to AED transfers

Note: Customers who signed up with Wise after 13th July 2022 will not be able to make transfers from AED. Additionally, existing customers will not be able to send transfers from AED from 28th July 2022.

We are working to bring this route back as soon as possible and will update the page once the route is available again.

Here you’ll find answers to the most common questions about United Arab Emirates dirham (AED) transfers.

Sending to AED

Who can I send AED to?

You can send AED to individual and business bank accounts in the United Arab Emirates.

What information do I need about my recipient?

You’ll need their full name (up to 35 English characters only), their 8 or 11-digit SWIFT/BIC code and their 23-character IBAN. The IBAN consists of numbers and letters, and should begin with AE.

How much can I send?

There’s no limit to how much you can send to AED, but the currency you’re sending from may have a limit.

How long does it usually take for the money to arrive?

Once Wise receives and converts your money, it usually takes 1–2 working days to arrive in your recipient’s bank account. Conversion can take up to 2 working days.

We’ll always give you an estimate for how long your transfer will take when you set it up.

Are there any restrictions on sending to AED?

You can’t send money from Israel to the UAE.

Is there any other information I need to know?

The UAE now has Monday-Friday as their working days. Friday is a half day.

Our partners in the UAE do extra information and security checks from time to time. If this happens, we’ll send you an email asking for more information about your transfer.
